was that me smile.gif
the ct-26 is teh weaksauce.
proper intercooling is key to running high boost, of course with the fuel system to match the boost/cfm.
boost also doesnt directly reflect power. boost is pressure from air NOT being injested by the motor, How much air you can flow is another thing.
over at mr2oc i hear of people running 20 psi on the ct26 but its highly frowned upon, esp with stock or inadequate intercooling. /shrug

Im running 22psi on my mr2. But the celica is going all NA, the CT26 just runs out of breath. At more than 15psi really. I think thats why toyota put the fuel cut there.

not to highjack the thread, but how much boost can a 3sgte take on stock internals... obviously with upgraded fuel, cooling and turbo, but how much on a stock block... my friend and i were arguing as to which was the stouter engine, me ofcourse saying the 3s, but he was pulling for the 4g63 (sp) well the motor from the evo....

That's a tough choice... Those Mits motors can be built fairly easy, and I have heard many a time that the 3s is finicky.

Mitsu motors love boost, but i ran 20psi on stock internals a long time with water injection and it was fine. It all depends on how healthy your motor is and if you put a decent HG in.

"psi" dosnt really mean anything. you should think of it in terms of horse power and not boost level. boost will all depend on what turbo you use. on a healthy well tuned 3s, some people have made around 400hp. but, even on a 4g63, its probably a good idea to rebuild and upgrade the whole motor, if that kind of power is your goal. the 3sgte and 4g63 are very similar motors. the 4g probably has the advantage of being around for a long time, and getting a few revisions from mitsubishi.

yeah ive been through my share of 4g's nice motor if ya like maintenance happy cars... i know you guys wanna hear stock block stuff but i run around 20-25psi with my eclipse & my friend has an mr evo n he runs damn near 25-28 with his i dont know exactly what all he has for specifics but he ddnt spend too much upgrading it all

as for the aftermarket the size of texas... a reman (essentially 0 mile engine) runs about 2-3 grand then add another 3 for upgrades n your hittin 400hp safely n thats doin all the work yourself, as for 3sgte i have no clue i know they hit your bank alot more for the same results & still have the car be driveable

4G63 is an awesome engine when its healty, but dang every lil thing goes wrong with it.....but rigth now im saving up to built a 6bolt 4G63(from 1g dsm). i recently jus helped my friend build his 4g63, he put in a stroker and dang that thing spooled at full boost(32psi) at 2800 (note that he has a evo3 16g turbo). his car was so quick that the trans jus took a dump. again DSM's break down all teh time.
