Ok, it's in. Painless install. First the pics, and then I'll do some explaining after each pic:

First part: Get the car set up for the pod. Since the car already had gauges installed in the pillar, I had to remove the pillar pod (see for sale section for the Lotek pod) and re-route the wires. Easy enough because we had the Nexus controller located on top of the ECU.


Here you can see where the wires come out. The Nexus gauges are a linked setup, so there's only the one wire that has to make it to a single gauge. I did NOT do any trimming or anything, there's enough pliability in the dash to allow the wire to be pinched between it and the console cover plate without harm.


Here's a test fit on the pod. Simple enough.

Second part: Geting the gauges installed in the pod (I went inside for this )


The Autometer Nexus gauges are 2 1/16" gauges. While I'm sure that the pod holds a 52mm fine, for us metrically challenged people it did NOT secure the gauges. You can faintly see the gap along the right side of the gauge in the picture above.

The solution?

Masking tape. Just wrap enough around until it's snug in the pod.

As for actually installing in the car, use a alcohol cleaning solution and CLEAN BOTH SURFACES VERY WELL. That can't be stressed enough. I used 3M body trim adhesive tape and it did the job quite admirable.

I didn't take any pics of it installed...........how about a video instead?? Please forgive the quality, I used our digital camera and NOT the video camera.

those nexus gauges are too sexy.... looks real good

sorry about this question but im planing to get an oil pressure gauge also, is it true that the oil pressure gauge can cause the oil wire to become loose and splash oil? if so what are the odds? if not sorry, just sounds scary.

Only if you're using a mechanical oil press. gauge will you have oil coming into the cabin. you would have to run a hose from the motor to the gauge. Most oil pressure gagues now are electrical and come with a sensor that atatches to the motor and then sends the info to the gauge via a wire. Just be sure to use teflon tape (like .50cents at autozone) around the treads of the sensor and you should be just fine. No leaks on mine so far.

Ok, now that I've actually gotten some wheel time behind the car.......

The gauge placement is absolutely perfect. I don't have to look to the left nor crane my neck to fully see each gauge now (I'm 6'3" and the A-Pillar pod had them too close together). They're right in view and it's just a slight periferal adjustment and I'm looking at the gauges.

Oh, and cold weather + boost controller set for 17 PSI in summmer = flashing red gauge and peak boost of almost 20 PSI this morning (warning was set to 18 PSI)! Whoops. May need to turn that down once we get back to the dyno in a couple of weeks.

I know the video was a little blurry, but if you guys want I can take a couple of stills of the pod as installed to show how clean the fit/finish is.

hey fastbird, can you remove the plastic interior peice that the cd-dins, CC and the clock are in?

Now that i have my triple almost installed i noticed can't remove that peice without removing the triple.. and i dont want to glued it down until i am either done with everything i will ever need to do to that or.. i find a way so that the piece can be removed..

See the issue i am having is, i am using prosport gauges and they are almost twice as deep as the autometer's you are running.... I had to cut the dash to make them fit. but i figured this pod will be on the car as long as im the driver so that part didn't bother me.

Use double side tape - so it will be easyer to remove the pod. But yes - its not posible to remove the center piece while the pod is installed...

Ditto to that. I'm actually going to be pulling mine here shortly to pull the trim piece off (red/black carbon fiber trim kit -- NOT my idea, wife wanted it )

the pod i got, teh surfaces are kinda rough, like it was rattle-canned...do u guys recommend using a fine grit sandpaper n wetsand?.....im worried about the finsih mostly.......but any advice on smoothin out the surfaces?..
