Okay, so right now it is 1:37 AM and since Sunday, I haven't really had any sleep. Maybe 3 hours per day at the most and it's Friday already. I have mid-terms next week and finals in 3 weeks so I just been pulling at nighters and trying to study. So my question is, does anyone have some good remedies to make 3 hours feel like 8? If not, does anyone know how I can keep myself up and on task, cuz when it gets to about now, I am too tired to look at my work. So anyone got any good tips? Coffee/Full Throttle doesn't do too much for me.

Thanks

i think you need to figure out a way to make more time for sleep..
i work 2 jobs and have full time classes at the university, i usually only get 4-5 hours of sleep overnight but i tend to take short naps here and there between lectures which does it for me..

I have the answer for you.

You must allow 7 hours of sleep for yourself. It sucks, but if I don't get the proper sleep at night, the next day at work sucks! I had trouble getting sleep, it was really bad for a few months. I have to be out of bed at 5AM, so at 9:15 I put down the computer, I turn off the TV and I open up my favorite car magazine. I am asleep by 10PM.

You cannot leave the TV on at night, the entire night, your ears are still working, sending messages to your brain. Your brain is not processing them of course, but you still don't want your ears to be doing their job at all hours of the night. Give them a rest too. wink.gif

So like I said, 45 minutes before your 7 hour sleep, start to read, start to relax, forget about all your worries and obligations for the next day. With proper sleep, the next day will be much better, I'm talking from recent experience here. Good luck man.

I work 3 jobs, full time classes 6 days/week (Yes I know, Saturday too). And its hard to catch some sleep cuz I can't fail any classes. 1 math, 3 engineerings, 1 physics.

Thanks for the help though.

Power naps, an old trick my dad taught me from his residency days is down a coupla cups of coffee then go lay down for 20-25 minutes, just enough time to start to doze but not enough time to get completely shut down, then when you're waking up the caffeine will be kicking in and you can trick your body into thinking you had enough sleep. The problem with 1-4 hours of sleep is that you start to get into REM but don't allow yourself enough time to fully recover so you wake up feeling really groggy.

Don't visit 6gc too often! That will give you few more minutes of sleep! Hahaha J/P

3 jobs and class. Jeez thats one crazy schedule. Maybe see if one job can give you like 1 less hour each day. That gives you 4 hours to sleep.

Not to rain on your parade, but if you keep 6 days busy, and then on your day off you just sleep and get all your rest, you leave no time for fun. No fun, means alot more stress.

Try that coffee power nap. That sounds like a plan.

one thing about naps is the fact to supply anything to your body, you must nap for at LEAST 30 minutes. I can try to find the scientifical fact if you want. That coffee thing sounds ok, and oh yea, DO NOT take and get hooked on caffine pills, they're aweful for the human body.

Best thing is to take power naps. I work 3 jobs 65-70 hours a week and my life has been a mess for the past 6 months, which makes me want to work that much...

Anywho... my day job is a desk job and I take 1 5-10 minute power nap in the morning and afternoon, and before my night jobs. Big thing is to just try to totally relax and block everything outta your mind. Takes some getting used to but once you have the hang of it. I can fall asleep in 1 minute or less now.

Caffiene pills are bad, if you want caffiene, chug a luke warm cup of coffee with no sugar, just straight. The sugar will make you crash later.
