Okay.. I should have had my 6gc for months now, but my lisence was revoked. Anyhow, It's almost time for me to get the car. I'll have about 5k to put in the car after I buy it.
Now I know that 5 speed's are more fun, more power etc.. But I honestly do so much **** while driving that I think i'll **** myself somehow with a 5 speed. I'd rather just have an automatic.. But With an automatic I wouldnt be able to get the 3s-gte, because I thought you had to have the 5 speed transmission. I'd really rather get a very nice turbo kit and other engine mods for the 5sfe, and keep it automatic. Even If i blew the engine, I could still use most of my mods still and just replace the 5sfe for like $700.. But if It came down to doing an engine swap anyways I might lean towards the 3S-GTE, anyhow, give me some information and opinions. My plans for this car other than engine mod's are new lowering springs, body kit, 17-18 racing wheels, and about 800 in the sound system, not counting anytthing that might need to be fixed with the car and making sure that everything is padded so my **** dosen't rattle when my stereo hits. EDIT: On another note, this isnt a car that I plan on racing. It's just a ride to pimp around in and a daily driver to school etc. I want to get around 250hp though, or enough to beat a Mustang GT... From personal opinion and what I have gathered from reading posts, for the best speed and time results I would just get the 5 speed with the 3sgte swap(front clip). It'll fit right in with a GT, It won't require you to overrun the 5sfe motor either. My motor work stopped with the intake, I'm gonna purchase the motor swap once I've saved 5k. Do I need this much?? I'll never know. 1500 for a clip, overestimating 1500 to install and an extra 2000 for anything that may go wrong, relocating the intercooler and SAFC2. Just spend the money and do it the right way. It's the way I've learned to get things. Don't try to cut corners.

1 Get a 5speed!! dont even think about it, you figure out lots of ways to do **** when you are driving trust me 2 Dont do up the 5sfe it would cost you thousands more then 3sgte and wont even be as good. It sounds simple to "throw a turbo on" BUT there is so much damn work and swapping of parts not to mention all the piping tuning and so on. Especially for your 250hp goal. 3 Unless you know someone that will swap your engine for free and have a good source for one 700 bucks wont get you that. 4 That is going to take your 5 grand plus some unless of course you have some hook ups which most people do":P 5. hands down 3sgte, and that is my goal too |

I drive an auto, and it's fine, but sometimes I wish I had a manual. Nobody who has a manual ever says get an auto.

well, you could get a 3sge engine with an auto tranny in a clip from a curren.
if you have money you could get an auto tranny from a 3sge powered celica and then get a custom ECU to control the 3sgte and the auto tranny. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

My last car was a Manual twin turbo and my current car is an automatic.....its all up to you..with enough money you could do anything....get and automatic only if need to do stuff in your car..like pimp some girls and touch em and stuff. If your only scared your break it....dont worry about it.....just get the manual....

Dude there is nothing you cant do in a manual that you can do in an auto. All ya need is your right arm/hand to drive stick, taking turns and shifting with one hand gets trickier but if you gotta lets say shift, turn, change cds, talk on the phone and pimp girls at the same time...you better be at home playin Gran Turismo. Get stick and you will never regret it, get auto and you'll wish you had stick, its that simple.

you haven't wrecked the celica yet? as to the topic, a guy from romania works with me now he speaks pretty decent english and he was in my car and he was like "wow first person in USA to see drive manual" i was like yeah i like it, its fun. he is like "Yes me as well, driving isnt gas then brake, brake than gas" and in his hard to understand american dialect, i think he said it perfectly. driving a stick is much more fan..and if you got the auto 3sge...you could still spank mustangs..not sure though cuz of the torque but the weight difference would have to be in your favor This post has been edited by 95STCelica: Aug 5, 2003 - 11:21 PM |
