mine does that in the morning, only for like 2 mins though.

I don't think its coming from the steering wheel itself, I think its suspension parts or steering linkage in the engine bay that are greased up and the lube is just cold at first.

I have the same problem for just a few minutes when it's cold. The noise I hear is definitely coming from the steering column.

I definately have this too... I belive that its just the power steering pump that makes the noise and its not a bad thing at all. Anyone who owns a GM car has that sound about 24/7 whether its cold or not. Definately nothing to worry. And as far as getting rid of it, i don't think there is any easy way.

Jeez, I thought it was rare, I'm on this list too!

I need an answer - it's making me lose sleep! rolleyes.gif
You guys fixed it yet? Maybe grease the steering column.

Does it still squeek in wamer climates like 15 degrees+.

Not a problem I have but it's most likely the rubber boot on the bottom of the steering column.
Under the dash, where it goes through the firewall.
The metal shaft is probably squeaking against the rubber boot.

Spray silicone [or hardened] works well for this.
Grease will too, but the silicone is less messy.

That sounds more like a fanbelt mate.

As for steering wheel squeek, mine does it occasionally and its not loud just noticable. It is just near the top, I think it must be where the shaft goes through a bracket at the top. I'd think some wd40 or somthing sprayed on it would help but I just can't be bothered to take the column housing to pieces to get to it.
