Yeah but I don't see you complaining about how slow you're ST is. It just irks me when ST owners complain about how slow the Celica is when they have the small displacement engine. The GT is not as slow as people act like it is. Is it as fast as a corvette? Of course not but it's alot faster than many cars people modify out there. And the 3S-GE BEAMS and the 3S-GTE GT4's are not slow by most people's standards. Those engines are still available to us - it's just a matter of how bad do you really want performance.
All I'm saying is - don't get mad because of the sour taste when you knew you were buying a lime in the first place.

i wont clutter this thread up with an argument, perhaps we'll start another thread about the different sport imports that were available during 1994-1999 and see exactly where the Celica stands in terms of performance.

anyway, yeah, $0 in upgrades and lovin it! but now i need a thermostat.

800 for subs and amp
200 for window replacement
400 for a deck that got stolen
80 for the deck i have now
80 for a cheap deck that i replaced after the 400 one got stolen
80 for seat covers
150 for various paints
65 front lip
65 for rear lip
150 for shipping of those lips
150 for z3 fenders
150 for shipping fenders
110 for border taxes on those damn fenders
80 for clear turns
200 for side skirts
50 for short shifter
35 for shifter boot
25 for racing pedals
500 for pager alarm

so thats about 5570
add another 3- 4k this coming year since i'm getting the body kit installed and get the dents fixed and painted

and as for those people complaining about how slow the ST's are i'll be laughing at them all the way to the gas station since with gas prices so high right now my wallet is thanking my car for it

btw the 6gc was toned down in north america any of the cars that sinner listed as the celica's competition can be out performed by the gt4 which was available in other countries besides theres also the toyota MR2 and the Supra so it wouldnt make sense for toyota to make the celica any faster

I've learned my lesson... the best mod you can have for your car is a good alarm system

$0 in upgrades.

to me, the 6th gen isn't worth it. i shouldn't have to swap a motor to get performance out of a car. it makes a great daily driver, maintenance is easy & cheap and it looks pretty good stock.

besides, when you dump money in to a car, 99.9% of the time you never see it again. i'm actually hoping to get some cash for my celica when i'm done using it.

Lol, the celica wasn't built for performance people. It was built for comfort and luxury, you can't tell me the 6gc isn't a nice car to drive in! Thats the main reason why I love my car so much...

For those that fell in love with the comfort and style the celica has they may want to upgrade the performance to make it faster. Thats what I'm doing, installing a redtop beams in mine. I don't mind the sacrafice, its a hobby and I love my car. Celica's are cheap to buy, very comfortable, looks really nice, if you want performance out of it you can get it... But you have to buy it. If I were to buy a skyline or supra, would I not pay more? Mainly because your buying performance already in the car to begin with... Celica is cheaper and more comfortable IMO, and in many articles that people write about the celica, they agree with what Im saying.

So everyone chill.

So far I have around 4k invested in mine.. Like 2-3k for the beams alone, alot of modifications was already installed in the car when I got it. Body kit, rims, new paint job, really nice car.. Got to get some pics though.
