Working the XP beta sucked.

Vista isn't really much better, but hopefully they will throw some bones our way and let some of us have a glimpse of what the retail will look like before it hits the shelves.

I gotta try out OOBE (out of box experiance) with Windows PE and then make it a build.

im pretty sure you can do all those nifty things with linux, my cousin uses gentoo (spelling?) and he runs 4 or 6 desktops at a time that rotate on a 3D object, he can grab the edge of it with his mouse and spin it around, throw one onto another monitor, or even another PC!

linux is the ****. My friend is learning it on his laptop, and he always rides shotgun when ever we go driving around in the celica, and he just hotspots around and hacks into other peoples serves since there really isnt too much protection against linux. Or something like that. I really dont know how he does it, he just says that linux is the OS to use for hacking and not windows.

im learning (slowly) to use gnome based xubuntu on a slower box thats meant to just serve files. laugh.gif im having some difficulty installing the video driver and i need to mount my NTFS drive and install samba and set up all that stuff. its slowly coming to me, xubuntu runs pretty quick considering how slow of a machine it is. i got my dad to try ubuntu live cd on his machine, i think he likes it and will probably dual boot with XP when he reinstalls XP to his new faster hard drive.

anyone can try Vista RC1 - Microsoft is handing out beta keys & full dvd iso images on their site.

although, i'd recommend setting aside a seperate partition so you don't hose your existing XP setup. the cd key you get should last for 3 months or so. i've heard from a lot of various sources that this RC1 (which is after beta stage, sort of a 'wannabe retail' version) is more like a progressed beta, it's got some rough edges to it.

remember that you'll need vista compatible hardware, and drivers to get stuff to work right.

what is so good about vista? (I dont know anything about it) The only motive for me to buy vista was because it could utilized 64 bit cpu structure.

Is the 3d desktop actually usefull?

its more secure then xp was.
the desktop graphics are all rendered with 3d hardware acceleration, and not in 2d mode like they were in xp.

macs still suck...overpriced and still crashes like windows!

My OSX never crashed once; my Windows never crashed once.

My Mac is slick and beautiful; my PC is ordinary and boring.

My Mac is hella expensive; my PC is dirt cheap.... yea you got me there tongue.gif

It's nice to see that Windows is finally catching up to Mac laugh.gif

Aren't you worried that Vista is gonna be better than the OSX? It's gonna be a nice show-down tween the Leopard and Vista. laugh.gif

forget RC1, get the RTM (release to manufacturer) final version

Windows_Vista_RTM_build_6000_16386

although its an offsite link, its genuine. you can even have microsoft validate it here

http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/whyValidate.aspx
