What size are the standard speakers in the back??? im looking to upgrade them and seem to remember they were ABOUT 6.5" and had an odd mount...

will these fit???

I think they're 6" in the back, but you can fit a 6.5" back there with a bracket.

the speakers in the rear panels are 6.0" by standard, but all you do is take out the bracket thing which holds the stock speaker, undo the 3 bolts holding it in and lightly shave if you wanted too... around the areas the 6.5" speaker doesnt fit.. then there you have it.

I have done that on my last 2 celicas, just modifed the actual frame holding the speaker in. easier cos then when u mount it back in, its nice and secure,

yes the adaptors will work but they push your speaker closer to the cover... not such a good idea i think.

I have just replaced everything in my car with 6.5" Alpine type R speakers. the backs were a straight fwd swap and the fronts were components and came with wickid universal adapterplates that allowed me to scrw it straight in, no mucking arund with MDF! lol wink.gif

Yea i fit 6.5 in my back speakers. Wasn't hard at all.
