well i got my second ticket a while back like 3 weeks ago frown.gif i am fighting it in court (this is when my car was in the shop and i had to drive the thing looks like a bean mobile i was in the SLOW LANE of traffic getting off the freeway when the piggy haulse ass lights blazing behind me (this pigg was an A$$ hole) he was a young rookie cop didnt even listen to my story and then he had the nerve to ask have you been drinking tonight sir like 30 seconds after he asked if i was coming home from work dumb sh!t thats all i gotta say but yea i am fighting it because my speedometer is busted and the car is the only mode of transportation i had also because hood is longer and the car sits lower to the ground it looks like your going slower than in my celica... so yeah i got a strong arguement if anything i just want traffic school! but if the cop dont show even better for me! anyone else know any better arguements let me know wink.gif

so yes how many of you lucky PPL are out there that have beat the ticket!!! wink.gif

I can't think of any arguments for your case, but I did get my last one reduced.

I got my last ticket for improper use of emergency equipment dropped from $171 to $65 when I went to court. I brought pictures of my neon inside my car while it was in, and a picture of the area after I took it out. I also told the judge that I had no idea it was illegal, since I'd been pulled over three other times with my indiglow gauges on and my other interior neon on, and I was never warned about those, despite the fact that they're blue and I never turned them off even when the cops talked to me. I also told the judge that I had blue lights outside my car, and was never even warned about those ever, even when the cop gave the ticket for having blue neon inside my car. I then said that I took those lights out anyway, just in case, and told him that my car is completely street legal now. And I said that the shop that sold them to me never said anything about them being illegal, and neither did the packaging. He then said that it sounded like I'd learned my lesson, and he dropped it down to $65.

What really sucks about the whole situation is that everyone...police officers, county clerks, judges....they make it sound like neon is only illegal if it's blue or red. They completely emphasize it being illegal if it's blue or red, but say nothing about other colors of neon. Yet they gave my friend a ticket for having yellow neon on inside his car. I absolutely HATE how they are supposed to be respectable people, yet they con kids into putting illegal stuff on their cars just so that they can give them tickets for it!

I don't think the excuse "My dads hood is longer and it sits lower to the ground" is going to work. Although they might help you out for the spedometer thing, they will probably just yell at you more and tell you it's your own fault and you should get it fixed.

But showing up to court normally reduces things anyway, so it's worth a try.

having an attorney helps a lot. they generally can get your fine reduced and shorter supervision (at least in illinois). 3 tickets, 4 accidents, and my record is totally clean. but if you know an attorney who can help you out for relatively cheap, go for that. i am lucky...i have legal connections! btw, if anyone needs to get out of a ticket in illinois i can help

Well...I don't really see what you're getting at with the hood and the height of the car....? But how much were you going over the speed-limit? Normally if you get your car calibrated, they'll drop it if its a minor charge. Also, don't worry about getting a lawyer. It is way too costly for the amount of money you'll end up paying. Its not worth a lawyer at all (unless you can get the hook-up for cheap or free).
