Ok, i have the red, light with the guy sitting down, with a seatbelt across him, and a big ball in front of him. Its been on for maybe 4 months, so my friend today when we were driving took out my owners mani and started to read it and it says "If this light apears take to toyota dealership right away!" Does anyone know what this light means?

Thanks. -cnelson. smile.gif

Yepp, thats what i said, it looked like an airbag! I think its either, the airbag sensor went bad, or the ecu thinks my airbag deployed because when i working on the dash one day i may of messed with it..

Thanks for all the help!!

airbag check procedure failed (runs every time you turn on ignition key). In other words: if you crash, airbag will not deploy...

My girl likes to laugh at that light everytime she sees it... like san0 said, she thinks the person is blowing a huge bubble gum

how many miles does your car have, doesnt it go on when your car gets to a certain amount.
anyway my old 6gen had it go on (and stay on) then a month later i got into an accident and it still deployed, guess i was lucky
-you might want to get that checked out btw wink.gif

That light came on about 2 years ago. I removed the fuse. I don't want an airbag deploying on my face. If I'm gonna get my face smashed against the steering wheel, so be it. I don't wanna be deaf if it deploys with just a little bump like it has happened on Mercs and other cars. That **** kills your hearing. The high frequency noise it makes damages your inner ear hairs.

Its not really that loud (its only for a split second) and it doesn't noticeably affect your hearing for longer than like a day or two (although who knows about the long term affects) and if you're wearing your seatbelt and sit far enough away from the wheel (recommended to be at least 10") it shouldn't even touch your face during a low speed impact. but the passenger bag does break the windshield and disrupts that whole side of the dashboard, and the smell of the powder that goes everywhere is pretty bad

They say the damage is permanent. One of my additional duties was hearing conservation officer when I was in the Army. Even our Black Hawks had airbags. laugh.gif

sorry to threadjack...

last few days i had been noticing an electrical burning smell inside the cabin. It never stayed for more than a minute, so i always assumed i drove past something...then tonight all of the sudden my airbag light came on. car was fine when i parked, turned car off, listened to radio for a bit waiting, turned car on, air bag light on.

when i got home i noticed the smell again so i took the center console off and im pretty sure the burning smell is coming from the airbag ecu.

should i need to worry about accidental deployment? or will the airbag just not deploy in an accident? if i take out the fuse, would that completely disable the srs system? (no deployment, no dash light)

Where is the airbag fuse? I found a 7.5a "SRS WRN" fuse in the main fusebox under the hood, but am unsure if this is the correct one. Can someone confirm?

i would but i only have sunday off (no dealership open then) and i work 11 hrs a day the rest of the week...

Thats why i want to find the fuse that OOBE pulled so i can just disable the system altogether.

I had success clearing the code on my airbag. I took the console apart to clean up a soda spill from before I got the car. When I reconnected the battery, the airbag light stayed on.

I checked the codes, came back with 24 (partially connected). I disconnected the battery again, unplugged the ecu connector and saw on pin bent. I guess when I tried to put the connector back in, one of the pins got bent and didn't connect. I straightened it out, hooked everthing back up, light was still on.

I found the code clearing procedure through a link on here, and got the light to go off. Now the car starts up and light goes off again like normal.

I don't ever remember hearing a high pitched sound in my accident, and I never even hit the airbag, doing 60 on the highway and hit a car stopped on the highway over a blind hill. Not light impact. I haven't noticed any difference in hearing

I'd take hearing loss over loss of life or a busted up face any day.

When the airbag light is on they will not deploy, even in a collision. I believe there are two fuses for the airbags, one for the airbag control unit and the other specifically for the warning light on the dash.
