I used to have neon inside my car, and I got a $171 ticket for it. The cop told me it'd be too easy to mistake my car for a cop car because my neon is blue, and I wasn't even flashing it or anything. frown.gif

Any lights that are from under your car, or that are a different color than standard outside you car can get you a ticket. Even some colors inside the car can get you in trouble. I have all the lights inside my car blue, and a cop pulled me over for having the dome light on. He said it impersonates a police car. What a crock of BS. Anyway, just be careful while you are driving around cus that is the only time they can get you is while you are moving. If you are stopped in a parking lot or something and have them on they can't do jack.

I used to have those washer LEDS and I did get pulled over for them. The cop just gave me written warning for them and I think that was when I woke up and realized that the lights were rice. So I disconected them and sanded off all the fake chrome paint off of them to make them clear. The worst thing they can give me in Rhode Island is give me a 5 day tag.

Man, you guys all have it good. Cops are so anal about lighting here. My friend got a $171 ticket for his windshield washer lights too, and I used to get pulled over for stuff like hyperwhite bulbs in my clear corners. I was driving perfectly and everything, but they pulled me over for them. I ended up not getting a ticket though because I cooperated with the officers and let them search my car and stuff.

What really sucks is how crooked our system is around here. Everyone(4 cops, county clerk, even a judge at traffic court) around here says that neon lights are only illegal if they're red or blue, but they just say that so that they can give you a ticket if you have another color of neon, such as yellow. frown.gif

Yeah, they are right. Here in VA, you can get pulled over by having them running while driving. But if you run them while sitting parked, they can't do anything.

Wow. Luckily around Ohio we can drive with them on. Color doesn't even matter. They just can't oscillate or whatever.

Same in SC, as long as they don't flash there's no problem.

Out of nowhere... smile.gif

WI(or at least the area I live in) is anal on everything car related. Exaust, Tint, Lighting, Stereo, etc.. Most of the time if you fix the problem and show proof(take pictures before you do it) they will drop the ticket.

I think in most states thats the general rule. I have heard rumors that in some states it's even illegal just to have the tube on there, the best way to ask would to be someone you know in law enforcement. Don't ask someone who you do not know as police tend to fill you with faux information. If a cop ever says something you don't believe ask him if he'll sign a paper that says that is true. If it is a lie and he signed it... good luck on any tickets he gave you holding up in court. The best way to get out of any tickets is to make the officer look incompetant.
