there's alot of people building 5sftes right now. idk why... I still have a couple things left to get for mine. I'm hoping july or august to have it all together and get to work. though, I'm installing whatever I can now so it doesn't need to be done later.

I was wondering if anyone had ever turbo'd a convertable celica. that would be pretty sweet. i love the eclipse gs-t convertables so a celica convertable turbo would kick ass. be a good sleeper too. lol

Just spent a good hour and a half sand blasting justins turbo and manifold. the turbo had some grease build up and the manifold had surface rust. but no more. I am going to get them ceramic coated to look better. so untill next time here are some advances on the stuff...

who you planning on having coat that stuff?
you'll need to disasemble the turbo to have the hot side coated. i wouldnt coat the compressor side.
if anything, i'd polish it.

hey guys...got ALOT done today smile.gif . Car still isnt running, but would be if we didnt run out of daylight lol. Next weekend it will def. be running, and should have the exhaust and tuning done by the following week. Only thing thats left to do is connect the coolant lines, oil lines, gap the spark plugs, and add some oil. Everything is on the car, just need to connect it to the turbo. I also have the flange for my Turbo xs type H bov, thats getting welded to my pipes this week. Here's some pics of what was done today.

Turbo and manifold bolted up together

Oil line that i had welded with the fitting

Turbo and partial intercooler tubing mocked up

FINALLY...all the piping is done!! woot.gif

So as you can see, everything is basically done, except for some simple stuff. I should have some more pics by next weekend of the car complete, and yes, i will post a vid. wink.gif

see how the clamps are on left where there is one bolt on one side and another bolt on the other? this is how they should be. and then on the right see how they are both on top? this is according to my auto class instructor, but he said it balances it out so you have a better clamp that's less likely to leak.

so, how'd you mount the intercooler?

no T-bolts or hump couplers?

anyway, looking good so far! I can't wait to see it all done!

yea, im going to need to take my pipes off to finish, so i wasnt trying to match up clamps too much...when i put them on for good, im going to put them with both bolts going in the same direction.....dont really know the difference which way they go if anyone wants to help me out.....as for the hump hoses and t bolt clamps, the clamps that i got arnt like the regular ones. They dont dig into the couplers, theres a metal rinf that prevents the threaded part from hitting the coupler...If i have any promlems with them poping off, ill buy some t bolts. You cant really see that well in the picture, but to the left theres a black 90 degree coupler that i used. These are no hump hoses, however they do allow the pipes to flex a bit. I have 2 of them in my piping so i think i should be fine. btw...thanks for all the support guys, greatly appreciated smile.gif

Sorry, don't mean to thread jack but this is something i just noticed now, and i had a question about it, and it's for anyone that knows, but how come the alternator on the 5SFTE set up does not require the alternator air scoop that ST185s have? I've always heard it was rather important to help protect the alternator from the heat of the downpipe and turbo manifold. I hope people know what im talking about and i don't sound crazy. I was just thinking that a 5sfte setup would create just as much heat as a 3sgte would.

The clamps that justins using are from HTS where he got the couplers from. They are ss liner clamps and they are very strong. Not that Home depot stuff. It holds really well. Everything is coming alond smoothly. We should have it running early sunday morning. I am goint to work on his car during the week so we can fire it up together on sunday!! i need to clean up the wiring and finish off the gauges.
