So i was lookin around for an intake for a buddy of mine and went onto K&N's website to see if they had it. After i found it, got the part #, i decided to see what they had for our cars. They had just pannel filters except for the 3SGE powered UK/JDM/EU celicas. So i took a look at the kit and how it installs and every thing..and to me it seems just like a 90 degree bent plastic pipe with a filter, then a snorkel that goes down into the splash sheild. The 90 pipe seems like a rip off for the price, but the snorkel idea is kinda interesting. Any one every rigged up a snorkel like on this kit? or does every one just run the piping through the regular intake box duct?

Link to instructions page so you can see what im talking about

I got that kit, but then i have the 3S-GE too as you know, so no real help there! biggrin.gif

It works really well, before i got it though, i just used some flexi piping from a hardware store attached to a regular funnel like you use to pour oil with, which went up through the bottom of the airbox. Worked just as well, but didnt sound as cool wink.gif

Did you have any problems with the map sensor? I heard the 3sge doesn't like running a pod filter?

I'm looking to change my set up but am thinking of just getting the K&N filter panel as the factory box isn't too bad a set up.

No problems at all, it runs perfectly.
It's just down to how you want it to sound, performance wise there's no difference between panel and cone - i've had both, but sound wise, the cone gives an awesome growl biggrin.gif

I don't suppose you know anywhere online that sells K&N's do you? I need a 33-2054 to fit my Beams air box but they cost a mint in NZ and with the exchange rate at the moment it will be cheaper for me to purchases offshore.

yes i have tried it on a 3sfe before, and the problems you will encounter are the diameters of the throttle body, and fitting it on there. if i remember right, the 3sge was bigger than my 3sfe...dont know if it will work on the 5s though....oh and also, as far as the ducting goes, a friend of mine thought that running the ducting from a cloths dryer, from the bottom of the car up to the intake was better than what was provided...i agreed ^_^
