ok ok ok!!! i know every one wants to know how much this is costing us!!! but to be honest the project is still under the original budget!!! it all started about 14 months ago when i bought the celica for $400 of some navy guy... it was supposed to be a beater car till i could get a better celica or somthing new... then i started doing research on the celica and found out on 6gc.net that all the body pieces from the st205 will fit the st204!!! in Moldova (were im from) the gt4 is well known, and i have always wanted one sense i was about 11 but i am now in the us and gt4 are not brought here so i build my celica to look like the one i have always wanted... so we planed it all out with a $9,000 budget and started buying parts back in late jan 07, lined up a good body shop and found a good upholstery shop finish it off!!! so far (with the cost of the car inclued) we are at $7,600 and all thats left to pay for is flush mount speaker box, ehaust mouting and tinted glass!!! we exspect total cost to just top $8,000 when finished!!! and the wheel and tire size is 18x8 with stagered offsets and 225/35/18 tires ...

How exactly did you paint the roof bits (ie the rearview mirror and light switch)? Spray paint? And was it really easy to change the light around the ignition?

you should get the 98-99 3-spoke steering wheel. it will make the interior look a little sportier. i put one in my old 94 celica and it looks and feels great. im not a big fan of aftermarket steering wheels, but since this (im assuming) will be mostly a show car, im sure aftermarket wheel will look good too.

And was it really easy to change the light around the ignition? roof bits are just black rattel can plastic paint from avanced autoparts... ignition light was eazy to, i got a standard toyota 194 light plug (like the one in your corner markers)and grind down the head and locking part of the plug so it would fit behind the igniton barrel... then i cut the original light plug off and cremped on new grined down 194 light plug... finaly i installed ( more like weged) a 5 led 194 blub in the light ring while off ignition barrel then install light ring back onto ignition barrel and pluged in new grined plug from rear of light ring... i hope this helps, it is realy eazy when you se it in front of you... |

Fascinating thread, coming together really well. This will be one of the best Gen 6's in the world when it's done, not so much for engine performance obviously but the mods done so far are awesome. That re-trim is stunning, is alcantara expensive?
