first I KNOW THIS IS NOT A 240SX FORUM. but i feel this question/ problem could be a "universal" car question. pluse there are a ton of intelligent people on this forum so i need everyones opinions.
ok...so i know most you guys dont know i broke the tranny in my rb25det about a month ago. well i just finished puttin a "new" one in this weekend, along with a 6 puck act clutch. when i took it out for a drive there were several extremely weird things going on. first thing i noticed was that the gear box was a little difficult to go through(found this out will we we installing the shifter. I could go through all 5 gears and reverse but it was a little difficult at first. 2nd thing was when i was driving, 2nd gear was hard to put in gear. when i tried it seemed like i was missing the gear..made that horrid griding sound. after awhile i could get it into 2nd though. the 3rd weird thing is when i put the car in reverse...it went forward, as in i dont have a reverse gear. Now during this little test run of the car that lasted less then a mile ever once and awhile we would hear a grinding sound coming from the tranny...clutch, not sure where, we just heard a grinding sound. we get the car back in the shop and jack the rear end up. while the car was in neutral, the rear wheels were spinning at a somewhat slow speed. when we pulled the ebrake to stop them, the car stalled. Some noteable things. We did not use the throwout bearing that came with the clutch kit. when the car is off, it is difficult to go throw the gears unless the clutch is engaged, and even then its still a little bit challegeing. we bleed the clutch so we know its not that. Also, when driving the car...it "felt" like ever gear was first gear, if that make sense. Anyways, can anyone tell me what the hell is wrong with my car now, i have a feeling its prob the clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing not being installed correctly, but my buddy is telling me it is the syncro's in the "new" tranny. PLEASE IF ANY ONE CAN HELP EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT I WILL HAVE 6 POUND BABY JESUS BLESS YOU FOREVER SINCE ME AND HIM ARE TIGHT LIKE THAT This post has been edited by OrbitalGT95: Jun 13, 2007 - 10:21 AM -------------------- Now SR powered |

well, my friend had the same problem in his rb20, and although it felt like the tranny was dieing, it was a problem with the slave/throwout bearing, but at the same time, since yours is clunky even when off, i'd say they jipped you with the stranny:(

might be your tranny fluid, my buddies evo had a lot of problems when he put in a performance clutch, he switched to redline mt90, excellent stuff, worth the money and it fixed all the problems with his tranny, he was getting locked out of gears and had trouble putting into gears and stalling and all kinds of crap... tranny fluid fixed it

again this is how awesome this site is, i've posted on 4 nissan forums and have gotten no responses...6gc is truely something special, thanks for the advice and help so far, but i think ive narrowed it down the the throwout bearing...since we didnt' use the one that came with the act clutch kit...im thinking there is a size difference between the 6 puck one and the stock one. If anyone else has any help please post up
once again 6GC is 6 pound baby jesus's favorite car forum...\M/ -------------------- Now SR powered |

QUOTE while the car was in neutral, the rear wheels were spinning at a somewhat slow speed. when we pulled the ebrake to stop them, the car stalled. the tranny wasnt in neutral, something is wrong with the shift mechanism or inside the tranny. difficulty shifting when the car is off, is indicative of a trans/shift linkage problem, not the clutch. i dont know what the rb trans looks like, but if there is a plate where the shifter bolts into, id remove it and inspect the shift mechanism first. |

I agree with cheeco. It is deffinately not your throwout bearing. If you cannot shift smoothly when the car engine is off it indicates something in the trans or the linkage. It sounds to me like you have the ability to shift into more than one gear or are really close to being that way. That means that the forks are bent or that you have bad syncro sleeves either way it should be inspected and possibly rebuilt.
