JDM lenses aren't entirely clear the have ridged areas that will look dumb on a custom projector unless done right... and being done right would make it VERY similar to JDM's anyways. Also, I've NEVER seen someone have just the lenses on here for sale. Like I said in PM's, hand polishing this lense by yourself will be impossible and you weill either break the lense or have a terrible finish. Take it from someone who has invested the time in this project and spent the money on the project, it will be cheaper to simply get JDM's in the first place. Goodluck in your project.

we are not against it at all... but romas and i probably have the most time into this project... and i know i have called over 150 places with no luck... and seeing as how we have invested so much time we are able to chime in... im all for new stuff
edit: most places cannot do it because it's a curved glass surface.... this throws almost all traditional ways out. another thing is tha our glass will break easily under the heat and pressure of improper sanding.... it's basically a one shot thing This post has been edited by dustin15brown: Jul 6, 2007 - 3:26 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I said it 10 times already - and i will say it once again:
IT posible to do - but you need to either find a shop who does this - or either have the right equipment. I'v polished 6 glasses of celica headlights - and 2 of them where broke after polishing. Why? Cuz its glass not plastic - you need to do all the polishing under water, with special grinding tool, using speacial dimond disks, after this you need to sand the surface with special 4000 grit disk, after this - you need to fully heat up the glass, while the surface fo glass needs to be heated up totaly eaqualy, and polish up the heated glass with special polishing gel. And all in all during all this proces you need to be extremly carefull not to brake the glass + as Dustin said - celica glass inst flat surface, its bend in all directions - and this make polishing even harder. Basicly thats why no one wants to do this, and there are almost only few shops in my area who would do this - but they charge inormal amount of $ for this. And to answer original qustion that you asked about replacment lenses - toyota doesnt sell the lenses separatly. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

You know, I came across this guy and his work looks impressive, check and see if he can make you a set of lenses. He does a lot of J-Body parts but he will custom make practically ANYTHING... (Ever hear of projector headlights for a Lincoln Mark VIII? Try finding those elsewhere LOL Just to give you an idea)
www.izntrbl.com He will custom make Projector headlights, clear lenses for taillights/headlights/marker lights, custom carbon fiber door handles, fuel doors, eyebrows, chrome housings for DIY headlights, taillights, gauges, etc. This guy has a lot of parts that could come in handy for custom projects, including cold cathode (brighter than LED) Angel Eye rings, LEDs for anything, plus chrome plating of plastic, wood, etc etc etc! I wonder if we could get a group buy on custom made Taillights and Projector headlights that cost less than JDM lights..... Guys this is a no brainer! Check him out! |

QUOTE(Lovo @ Jul 8, 2007 - 12:02 AM) glass will always look better than plastic but what if we got someone to remake the cover in plastic? That is actually pretty easy... just pretty expensive because you have to make the mold using vaccum forming... I'm in the works of gettin some baseline numbers on what they would charge to do it with a few companies... But I'd prefer glass ya know... I'll keep everyone up to date and michelle, that is some great information, I'll give them a call tomorrow! -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE QUOTE I own a 95 Toyota Celica, and I would really like some projectors made by you. My OEM headlights are made with a glass covering, but it would be better for mass production if you made them with plastic covering. Getting JDM projectors for my low beams costs about 600 dollars, because of importing and the fact that they're new OEM products. if you could let me know what you can do, and what you need to make this project work; let me know. Have a nice day. -Lovo hello lovo. i am sorry, but i will not be able to mass produce due to i have many many orders that come in as it is, and can not add a mass to the mix. i also build these on the weekends with my spare time. with that said, your pricing will be: 300.00= labor 350.00= materials (projectors, HID kits, harnesses, etc.) 100.00= custom made clear lenses 50.00= chroming (for more oem stock look. if not, they will be gloss black) 30.00= shipping i will need you to supply me a set of lights to work with, or i can purchase a set for you, and charge you the cost. thank you lovo, and if you have any questions, let me know. have a great day sir! Joshua L. Wirz Www.IznTrbl.Com So there it is peeps... thats his price. This post has been edited by Lovo: Jul 9, 2007 - 5:16 PM -------------------- ![]() |

Here's the deal guys. I will be taking care of the lenses from here on out. I made an agreement with this company to produce the lenses and am just awaiting Coomer's approval. Be on the lookout for a gb/fs thread here relatively soon. Also, I think the prices are going to make you guys happy.
