I RECENTLY JUST INTALLED SOME NEW KYB STRUTS, STRUT MOUNTS, AND BOOT ON THE FRONT OF MY COROLLA, yEAH i KNOW THIS IS NOT A COROLLA FORUM. ANYWAYS THE CAR IS LOWERED ON 17S AND I'M USING H&R SPRINGS ALL AROUND.

WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS THERE IS A SIGNIFICAT AMOUNT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END SUSPENSION! I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS NOISE? ANY INPUT WOULD BE HELPFUL, THANKS.IPB Image

Both sides? what kind of sound? squeak or clunk. Made sure you tightened everything properly. Check that the springs are captive.

The noise is more like a thud and its comming from both wheels on both sides at about the same intensity over bumps.

I forgot to mention like "LewFX said" I did not use the lower rubber insulator at the bottom of the springs( look at the pic) I don't know if this makes a difference, anyone know?

by captive you mean there they are secure right, they are H&R springs so they did not have to be compresed to install the strut mount, I only presed the mount onto the springs compresing them a little and then thightened the nut on the center of the strut mount.

it probably comes off the seat as the spring compresses. use that rubber piece.

I think I found the problem!!!

The nut on top of the strut is not thightened all the way. I removed the wheel while holding the buttom of the rotor I presed up and down simulating movement of the suspension and it makes noise, looks like the shaft is moving up and down and the nut because its not tightened all the way allows for movement so the nut is bouncing hitting the mount on the bottom making noise.

How do i tighten the nut on the top of the strut shaft withought the shaft moving?(KYB STRUTS)

Get to a shop that has a rattle gun. smile.gif

Make sure everything is installed correctly first though. There is an arrow on the strut that tells you how to mount it to the car.
