Hello,
New to the 6th Gen family. I am currently replacing all of my speakers on my Gen 6 Convert. I know the door uses a 8 inch woofer which I am converting to 6.5. As for the mids on the door they are 4 inch but where can I get a harnest to mount the speakers. The orignal brackets are fixed into the orignal speakers and cannot be removed. This has been driving me crazy looking for help so, if anyone can shed some light on this issues it will be much appreciated. Also, is it difficult to replace the rear speakers? I know they are 6.5 as well but I cannot figure out how to disassemble the rear panel. Once more thing, do I need a special harness for the rear speakers. Thanks, Lay 1995 GT Covert |

i replaced my 3.5 door speakers with 3.5" infinitys. all i did was take off the bracket from the door area and i screwed the speakers to the back of the door panel, 3.5 and 4" speakers are fairly light and can be screwed to the fiberboard from the back of the door i had to cut a tiny bit of plastic off the circular surround to fit them better but it works perfectly and has never moved in 2 years.
That is an option for you |

rear speakers aren't too hard. it is a lot easier however if you remove the back seats. you shouldn't need a new harness or anything. i just used the stock wires that went to the stock speakers and bought some connectors from radio shack. there are about 5 or so screws you have to remove to get the panel off including the one under the mesh cover. you can't actually remove the panel all the way with the seat still on. it is possible to do but not very easy. i have done it on both my celis. one without removing the rear seat and the second time i removed it.

Did you figure out how to take the rear panels off on the vert? If not you have to take out the bottoms of the back seats, they should pull right out. Then there are two screws at the bottom of the panel and two more on top. One is black and the other is in the button. IF you remove all these screws the panel should slide right off (towards the front of the car)
Just so this is on record. -------------------- ![]() I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |
