I know there have been posts about it, but the quick and simple is.
> remove handels weld in place to fill hole, prep and paint. > install popper cylinders to pull the rod that pop the door (does what the hendel did but electrical) (also install cable lines and lever to pop door when cyinder does not work or power failure > install remote system or buttons to activate cylinders. > install popper springs in door cill where it has a good push point on the door. (the popper cylinders does not open the door just pops the latch, the rest > call it a day. This post has been edited by creis: Aug 10, 2007 - 2:51 AM -------------------- |

you have a few optinos,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50LB-SHAVED...1QQcmdZViewItem or buy parts separately and put em toghether. cartoys sells just the cylinders, and you can get the sping popers on ebay easy. best to go with a kit though. AutoLoc makes a decent kit but its a bit pricy. be cafefull of ebay knock offs, i went though a set of them real quick and had to get replacements. and its a huge pain aligning them to the right lenth when installing so be advised. -------------------- |

with the kit i mentioned an most kits you get an overide button that u can hide outside your car. TVR's have them under the wing mirror!
or you can put them in your trunk asl ong as you dont de-lock this you can still open it an press the button an this way if you loose battery power you can still climb in your car to pop the hood to charge you battery. otherwise you'll just have to smash the window to gain entry try explaining that to cop that catches you in the act..... |

the internal and external handles hook up seperatly (2 different ways) so u hook up the kit to the external way so u can shave the handle and keep the internal handle working. but u can also install the kit in a way that u could still use all handles anyway.
if your battery dies.... aslong as you have not de-locked your trunk you could climb through in to your car to pop the hood to replace the battery |

can u post the how to's?
if what your refering to as the cylinder is the solanoid then this works with elctromagnets which pulls a cylindrical piece into itself when the electicity passes through it (when you press the button on the remote). this in turn does what your handle does. when the electricity stops the cylindrical centre piece pops back out agen on a spring ready to go agen. when your door is unlocked by the solanoid a spring (door popper) pushes your door open thats the best explanation i can give without pics. |

QUOTE so far i think im gonna go with puttin it inside the door straight under the latch thats where mine went, easyest place is straght down. QUOTE you loose battery power you can still climb in your car to pop the hood to charge you battery. done that more times then i care to say QUOTE How does the cylinder com bac up after it dropes to open teh latch?plz tell me how it operates if im wrong. there is enough pull on the latch to pull the peaces in the cylinder back apart, also its electromagnetic so when the power stops it no longer has a hold on it. exactly what redice has said, fyi, if you do a search i'm sure you'll find a bunch of my old posts when I was doing the install. for the record i dont recommend shaving the door handels if its your daily driver, its very hard to align the cable from the cylinder to the lever correctly so that it has enough slack to start the down motion but still pull it all the way down and over time enough pulls will ware it out. additionaly if anything gets lose it can be a pain redoing, and yeah getting locked out of the car or having to climb in though the back really sux. and also on a below frezing day the poppers may not work regardless if the door is frozen shut.
