Does anyone have the Kenwood DDX-8019 DVD Receiver? If so, is it possible bypass the safety feature on viewing movies while driving?

been out of the industry since 05 so not quite sure with this exact model...if it is like the 05 kenwood models, it will have a green wire that is supposed to be attached to the parking brake sensor...ground this wire and the screen should still be active...don't know if kenwood went to the gyro sensor method...are you on maui? if you are, see derek @ certified sounds-he'll be able to help you.

ItS tHe WiErD wAy ThAt YoU typed like that, any way, like previously mentioned, if you dont wanna take it someplace and you would like to do so yourself, there should be an irregularly longer wire(s) coming from the harness, on either goes to the e-brake & another to the foot brake, or just to the e-brake, if there are 2 and one needs to go to the foot brake, you prob need to setup a seris of switches to do a lil dance to get it to work, otherwise you just tie the single wire in with a ground n it should work, no clue as to colors since i couldnt find anything with a quick google search good luck with the instal though!!! its nice watching movies on long drives =)

I had an Kenwood ddx 7017 in my old celica. In the installation manual it shows what each of the wires is for. Find the one labelled "parking brake" and ground it. If you want maybe even wire it to a switch so you can turn it off (incase you ever get pulled over by a "smart" cop) or just turn it to nav or something, so your screen will go blank.

The new kenwood's might use the gyro now, but I doubt it. Kenwood is oldschool, and there are still ways around the gyro (so I've been told)

BTW I DO NOT CONDONE THESE ILLEGAL ACTIONS, AND ONLY DID IT FOR PASSENGERS ENJOYMENT...and a little of my own...

^^ here in utah (atleast from what i have been told) it isn't illegal. i have talked to some of the people at best buy about it and they said "we arent' allowed to do it for you but we can show you how to do it." they will actually take you out to your car mid install and tell you which wire to put where.
i just don't have the funds to be able to buy one atm.
some day...some day...

yea idc where u are or what kind of head unit you have there is ALWAYS a way to get around that stupid video thing, even with a gyro, it just takes time to find the poeple who can do it...

O yea for your unit do like 6gsillyca said and ground the parking brake wire, a switch is a good idea too.
