Today I rear ended someone, and was left with a warning for "following too close". No collision on my car. Basically i have to pay for the damages myself. Heres the thing, to my knowledge my whole front end basically is unfixable so i dont really know what to do. i did this like 2 hours ago and the hood is wedged into the bumper so i cant even look to see what it looks like under the hood. The car runs, and the airbags did deploy (smashed my windshield in the process of this "life savor".) I have around $2,000 availiable to my name, im a hard working 17 year old just trying to have something to get around, but i am thinking about getting a kit. I have little knowledge on the body work area and was hoping that you guys can give me some better ideas on what to do. Maybe try to scavenge a bumper and hood? another thing is i can barely open my front door, like litterally my whole front end wedged into the middle of my car. I was already planning on getting a kit at some time but im also freaked out because of what happened, so should I spend some money on a body kit, or somehow fix this so its drivable. I love my car i was hoping u guys can look at the damages and give me some ideas on what to do.
Thanks.

sorry to say but it is probably totalled. you say the door won't open? you probably bent your frame. it will take a lot of work to get everything safe enough to drive it regularly. sorry to hear about the accident. that sucks hardcore.

it opens, but the hinge side of the door is touching my front end.. a little hard to say but when i open the door its touching my front edge so it makes a deep squeek noise till it opens

that might be because the fender is pushed in..

Why are you asking us? Get your ass to a collision center and have an expert check for frame damage, kid. That way you'll know for sure what to do.

theres no frame damage, im gonna get ahold of a drivers side fender, and of course my front bumper. I was thinking about getting some type of body kit but i figured for the amount of driving i do to it, and considering im going to college and everything, maybe the regular stock bumper would be fine. but other than that i hit it on the left side and nothing happened to my engine. i just fixed my steering wheel from the airbag and the passenger airbag panel on my dash. i think im gonna get a more stylish hood though wink.gif.

thanks for your help

actually OOBE what is your hood?

he's got the GT-Four hood...
and unless you go with a GT-Four bumper, you'll have a gap between your hood and bumper.

dont be discouraged, you can look at the pic in my profile to see my wreck. everyone thought it was gone but it got fixed smile.gif

you'll have a second home in the buying/selling forums. i was there at least once a day...
good luck man

Dude, I completely agree with OOBE. You are 17, get that frame checked, your life isn't worth risking for a ride.

That looks like very minimal damage. and with the frame technology today, even if there was frame damage they can actually make the car STRONGER.

well to my best knowledge, if you look around the 2nd hand market you probably might get a invader front+rear bumper for about $300 shipped to ya. Of course add another $200 max or so for it to get painted and installed. Look for some on ebay or some other toyota sites.

So I think that would be around the same price of getting the original bumper and just replacing it.

For the hood just go for the stock and buy it in buy/sell forum unless you got more than $1000 or so to spend on the repair.

And yeah don't give up so easily, parting it is just gonna make one less 6gc in the world and you rarely see one these days anyway.

airbags are expensive as $h!t. that might total your car out on their own.

All is good! first.. the front bumper and drivers side fender are replaced with parts from a local auto shop. They are black right now.. my car is white but it will be painted. Will be ordering the Erebuni 404 lips around the time when my car is going to be painted. I got my low and high beams from the same shop for cheap, and my step dad banged out the hood with nothing but little dents that can easily be fixed. The pushed in reinforcements in the front end were fixed using some type of little handy crane which made it so the new fender fit properly and my door can shut with the normal gap between the door hinge and the fender. Airbags will not be replaced as of right now, but maybe in the near future. Only thing now, i need to search for a steering wheel (pref stock) because the airbag ripped it a little, but its glued right now lol. And i also need to fix the dash were the airbag popped from, along with the necessary paintjob of both my front bumper, fender, and lip kit. hmm maybe ill get myself those spoiler blocks to give my car some more features.. in case all of you were wondering the price of the fender, front bumper, low beam, high beam, towing of my car, and new windshield was $600. No labor was needed because my step dad actually works on cars and hes damn good at it so no money for labor was needed. The kit should be about 500 shipped and the spoiler blocks maybe 100-200? (PM IF YOU HAVE ANY FOR SALE AND/OR STEERING WHEEL). MY CAR IS SAVED.. thanks for the help guys

Edit: Pictures will be posted with the process

as far as your door getting stuck, re-adjust the mounting of the fender, which is prolly also bent, so that the door can open & close freely for now till you get it all fixed. i agree with everyone that you should have it looked at to be sure there isint any serious damage hiding on the car, bumper, hood, & fenders should be all you need if thats all thats bent/damaged, good chance to upgrade your visual look and come out lookin better than it did before, could be a message that you should do a gt4 conversion wink.gif

edit: READ BATMAN'S POST ABOUT 7TH GEN STEERING WHEELS!!!! if your gonna put the time, money & effort into replacing it, get a cool one at least! haha
