Hey y'all, i just purchased TEIN SS Coilovers this weekend and i installed them. Er... i have been installing them. haha. The front 2 went in easy breezy. But then i got to the back and....ARG!. The end links on the sway bar.. would not come out on the driver's side and i ended up cutting it off with a dremel becuase i got SOO frustrated and ordered a new ST185 set. So i got that one in, and today i try to work on my passenger side, and the end link comes off easy on that one, but ofcourse nothing can go smoothly. I can't break loose the bottom of 2 bolts to get the suspension out. I'm also running into another problem once i get that loose, idk if my suspension will slide out because the way i have my exhuast routed. My exhuast is holding all my brake components up so i might not be able to drop it low enough and out of the way for the shock to come out but idk yet. I would keep trying, but i broke my 19mm impact sock BY HAND. I had the impact socket on a breaker bar, and i cracked the socket in 6 places. Oh yes, im so strong haha.
Oh but another thing i found out that my wheels are too wide for the rear coils to be on their lowest setting. If i have the coils all the way down, the wheel will rub. I need to either get spacers or new rims with different offsets. Right now my car sits higher than my previous coilover set up in the rear. But much lower in the front . I'm done with suspension for the day haha. -------------------- |

QUOTE(trdss111 @ Sep 3, 2007 - 4:25 PM) how much for coilovers? let us know what ya think of them when ya get them in Well i drove it when i had just the front in, and omg.. i love them. Also with the drivers rear installed only, i jacked up my car. The driver's side tire was 3 inches off the ground while the passenger side tire was still on the ground. There is a very noticable difference on how stiff this suspension is from my previous set up. Mine is set 2 clicks harder than standard and it's just great. Very nice suspension, and i will take pics when i finish up the rear. I'm on my way to pick up stuff from Forkee, and i need to also install my front and rear extentions and JDM sidemarker as well, so that's why my pictures havent been updated becuase i've just been doing stuff constantly to the car haha. -------------------- |

Hey, actually, my pictures won't be posted up until during the week, however i had a question that i would hope someone would know. I've always heard that the Tein EDFC is not compatible with the USDM SS Coilovers, but will work with overseas versions of the SS Coilovers. Can anyone tell me why this is?

hood clearance on the stock usdm hoods do not have the bulge above the strut towers as the gt-four hoods do.

but people in aussie have fit the efdc on a st185 gt-4 with out that extra space on them...........you should go to a site that sells efdc properly and it should say the length need above a bit on the strut for hood clearnce then check your clearnce!

The US part number for tein coilovers for st202 does not match the aussie/euro/japan part# meaning that YOU CAN NOT INSTALL EDFC REGARDLESS OF HOOD CLERANCE. Now i can not say that for sure but if SS3 celicas have same OEM strut part# as US ST202 and different Tein strut part# then it must be because of some significant differences.
WHAT YOU NEED: COILOVERS: GST86-B1SS4 EDFC: EDKV1-12140 or EDK01-12140 (doesn't really matter) Credit to Kadett for this info! -------------------- QUOTE(tufy @ Jul 19, 2006 - 7:40 AM) i dont drive fast, i just fly low |
