i want to buy a 4 way amp for my sound system but i want to know what some good brands are that are also cheap.

i hear sony is good...but then i also hear planet audio is good. i just want to get an idea of what is good and what isnt. also does it depend on my speaker setup and what kinds of speakers i have?

For a lot of bang fot the buck you can't go wrong with MTX. They underrate their amps. You get a report card with each amp telling you what it is acutally putting out, which is always higher than the rating.

I can vouch for mtx..i have a buddy with 3 in his monte carlo..two running two 12" mtx subs and one for the infinity speakers..when he turns it up...you can't sit in there..its that loud..not only that but its still understandble..as far as being clear its not all distorted or anything...

Four channel amps depend on if you are running subs, or component speakers. well, it matters to me. i have autotek stealth 1500 watt amps, 2 of them, one to my 4 subs, and one to the components. They are super clean and really powerful, but quite pricey. Kicker makes good powerful amps, but they arent as reliable as say Diamonds or the rare Eclipse amps. Fosgate is always a good component OR sub amp. go with kickers on subs, and mb quarts or diamonds on components. Hope that helps.

sony=junk almost caught my last car on fire when it overheated and the protection didnt kick in.

Ive had great luck with jbl amps, now I have 2 rockford ones and they are incredible, and Ive never heard anything bad about JL they seem to have a quality product.
