I was thinking of replacing the stock downpipe and replacing it with a aftermarket.

From what i have read, the ebay specials are not that great.

what I am thinking is keepint the stock and not worring about it cracking or having to remove the sensors to put them in a new downpipe.

Really, how much power will I gain?

replacing the stock downpipe with a aftermarket one from ebay or wherevere, will gain you about 20hp, it will be noticable the power gain. and the internal wastegate sounds nicer... gives the car a throatier tone.
removing the sensors is easy.. its just 2 bolts and then you pull it out and stick it into the new downpipe... plug and play basically.

ummm i would recomend with the new downpipe, that you heatwrap it from the turbo to 1/2 or 3/4 the way down. this will greatly reduce under bonnent temps.

20hp... wowwww. with those numbers I will definitely replace the downpipe.

Now I dont really know what to look for. any suggestions.

I will look around ebay for now.

assuming you are doing a 3sgte swap with the stock turbo, then there a few downpipe options that are "off the shelf" ready. The most cost effective is probably Berk. The other very good 3" option is Aussie. Also, KO racing makes a 2.5" one that I would probably buy (because I am over 30 and the 3" is noticably louder). Make sure you get it ceramic coated if you don't get stainless.

Also, I think 20 hp is a bit optimistic. I would say more like 7-8hp with a 2.5" and 8-10hp with a 3" at 15psi.

its a pretty big upgrade in power from the stock one. when i did mine, i only changed the dp, and the car felt like it gained a lot of power. do it now, while the motors out of the car, because its a bit of a pain to do with the motor in.

berk is the best, like jay said.
the cheap-o ebay ones are fine too, as long as you grind down the flange to make sure the wg doesnt hit it, and you get one that comes with the lower support bracket. ive had mine for at least 2yrs without problems (sold by berk at the time, but pretty much the same thing as what you find on ebay).

if you are super cheap, you can also gut the cat on your stock one. youll see some nice gains, but not as much as a real 3in dp.

I thought 20hp was a little excessive... 8 to 10 sounds a little more like it. Even that is probably too much.

I am going for the 3 inch all the way to the back. I don’t mind the sound. If it gets too loud ill just add a high flow cat.

I took a quick look on ebay and came by this one

I've ordered my Aussie Downpipe about a week ago, will be here at the end of the week. I've read a topic on I believe GT4OC forum with dyno results that the gains (on a 3rd gen) where 15bhp + 15-20nm torque.

Never seen good pics of the Berk downpipe, but the Aussie has the least restrictive wastegate path of all aftermarket downpipes I've seen.

That down pipe is garbage. Even supported, rewelded, and reinforced that ebay pipe will crack. Spend the extra money and get it right the first time. The berktech V.2 pipe is awesome.

Its too late. I ordered that POS already.

Sorry if that sounded insensitive. But a couple people had already told you to go with the Berk as a good downpipe and instead you bought an Ebay special. The chinese stuff doesn't hold up well and you will spend alot of time and money fooling with it in the future. The good news is that its not too late. My recommendation is to immediately buy a Berk and sell that thing on ebay or mr2oc.com before its out of the package. You might take a small hit on the price but you will still be way ahead in the long run. Good luck.

he's out of stock, i already contacted him and said they'll be getting a new batch soon, but i dont know when...i want mine!!
