wow so many of you guys are taking stabs in the dark... turboing a beams with a piggy back will be the easiest. head swap on a 3sgte with a beams will be the hardest and for not that much gain... (3sgte pistons are weak, rods are strong)... really what this boils down to is someone's pipe dream

Beams has a really cool looking RED valve cover. That alone makes up for its shortcomings.

you can boost a high CR motor (New celicas for that matter as well)

high compression helps with off boost driveability, as well as you make the "same" amount of power as a lower CR motor with a lower boost level on a high CR motor
Its all in the ability to tune your timing and fuel.

In my build i'll actually be raising the CR of the 3sgte to ~9.5:1 almost.

Don't forget a water/meth or alchohol injection for added cooling protection...

well, i remember reading about it at some point a couple of years ago..

Uh, not seeing the vvt-i control on the exposed cam gears so I would say this either is not the beams motor or the vvti was removed.

IMO, turbo the beams, run a high octane, and get some sort of water/meth injection. Going through the hassel to swap heads wouldn't be worth it.

Now if you were to place the head on the 5s block and make it a stroker motor then that would be fun.

water/meth is a "band-aid" solution....how many REAL racecars do you see running around on it? (road course that is) answer is zero. A properly built and tuned motor does not need water/meth. W/M is used in order to run a higher boost level/change timing a bit for short periods of time and is not something you depend on.
