wow. my friend on myspace said it sucked too. i was gonna watch it cuz it looked interesting but i trust my compadres so i think ill pass on this one.......

hmm maybe you need real friends... starting a sentence off with "my myspace friend said" is rarely ever good

listen jack ass maybe you need to read your sentences right

i said my friend on myspace. not my myspace friend. i have real friends, most of my friends on my myspace list i know personally. i dont see what myspace has to do with anything anyways, i was just making reference to it. my friend on myspace which i quoted is my real friend which ive known for 10 years, not just some random person i added. i also made reference to all of you as my friend and good source of movie reviews as i have made some reviews on here myself.

why do you have to go around bashing people anyways? whenever i make reference to what someone said on here, i always start with, "someone from 6gc said". does that make anyone more or less credible? maybe, maybe not. does that mean i need to get read friends that know cars? no. it has nothing to do with it. i was just citing my sources. jeeze next time ill just say, "my friend" and ill leave it up to you to question whether or not they are imaginary...

rolleyes.gif

ooo so defensive, hmm for it to hurt so much it probably has a bit of truth to it

oh yea and that girl exploded i was like wtf and then the movie just kept on going. but if you think about it and that situation really did happen in real life, while i'm sure most people would have made some different choices, it would still be a lot like that... random **** is happening all around you and you don't have time nor the ability to get any answers, you are just trying to stay alive

guys, you cant really complain about getting sick from the camera. you all knew what you were getting yourself into. im not gonna go watch rambo and complain that there was too much blood...

have any of you guys tried running with a hand held camera? this movie did a wonderful representation of mimicking it.

I understand what you mean about how they "mimicking" because I've made video before and trying to hold the darn thing stable with your hands is near impossible.

But I was hoping the entire time they say " hey turn on the stabilizer control" or something along those lines to make the movie into a regular movie. Or they could have moved into a first person view of the guy holding the camera. If they wanted the viewers to get a first person view; let us be the first person not rewatching the film!

my review: I hated it!

what happened to that one girl that got bit? marlena or something. like she started bleeding from the eyes and people started freakin out cuz she had a bite. and then they took her behind a tent and then blood splattered. what happened?
QUOTE(massbrandon @ Jan 19, 2008 - 7:34 PM)

^^ I thought she exploded lol.

Remember just before she exploded when they rolled the soldier right beside them and his chest was hollowed out. I assume the same thing happened to her.

I absolutely loved Cloverfield! Having things spelled out for you through the whole movie is pretty boring. The way it was presented was very unique and worked very well in my opinion.

At the very end of the credits, what was the short message that was full of static. Some douche bags were being to loud and I missed it.

The message at the end was "it's still alive." It is VERY easy to hear...

I loved the movie. I hate the people that were whining about there not being much information. What can you expect? It's a documentary, we know as much as these people do. All the information you could want is in the viral marketing sites, but that's too much work for a lot of average joe movie sheep out there. The monster is a deep sea creature, from the coldest, deepest part of the ocean with the most pressure. Slusho (the company Rob is going to be the VP of Marketing for) harvests Seabed's Nectar, which nobody really knows much about. Some people speculate it might be eggs. There's weird stories about Seabed's Nectar. Slusho is wholly owned by Tagruato, a Japanese drilling company. They lose a satellite in the water (Splash at the end of the Coney Island clip) and have to go to retreive it, and that wakes the monster up.

If you didn't like Cloverfield, you went in expecting an action flick/monster sci-fi-o-rama movie. If you did like it, you accepted the fact that at heart, Cloverfield isn't a monster movie at all. It's a love story, and the monster is only a catalyst between Rob and Beth's relationship.

Here's my big post from another forum I visit:
SPOILERS BE YONDER

They didn't nuke, or tactical nuke NYC. If they did, the SD Card in the camera would be destroyed from the EMP. The United States would never do that. Had to be a JDAM or two in there, or some really heavy kilo's dropped on the monster. Do I think it's dead? Yes. The pictures on http://www.1-18-08.com/ have led me to believe it is. I think it lives past the end for a while before getting owned by the Navy. If you look, theres a LOT of blood in the water, some mangled parts (which seem to be a whale though), and if you sort the photos around, theres our Navy and some A-10's attacking the water. Also, there's speculation that in the end in the credits Rob whispers something like "It's still alive..." Typical JJ Abrams mystery. People said they listened to it forward and backward, and that both ways it sounds like "It's still alive." I listened to it backward, and it sounded exactly, in ENGLISH like "It's still alive." Do I want a sequel? No. Sequels are rubbish. Also on http://www.1-18-08.com/ if you stay there long enough you hear the roar a few minutes into just chilling on the site.
Here's the sound clip from the very end of the credits. It has to be played in Reverse to sound like anything. This is typical of JJ Abrams.

backwards
http://boomp3.com/m/bd034dfca370

By the way. The movie is not a "monster" movie like everyone seems to believe. That's just a backdrop. I also don't think that it has any parallels to Iraq, or the wars in the middle east. Yes, I see similarities, but I don't think that's what Abrams was going for. Cloverfiedl is essentially one man's quest to save the woman he loves, and it just so happens that there's a giant monster attacking the city behind him.

By the way, Slusho, and Tagruato, are two names often tossed around. Slusho is a popular Japanese drink in the Cloverfield world, and Tagruato is a drilling company from what I've heard. Apparently Slusho's main ingredient is called Seabed's Nectar, and they had to partner with Tagruato to drill for it in the deepest parts of the ocean...but Tagruato was searching for a peice of their satellite (Hence the splash you saw when Rob and Beth were at Coney Island). So the creature came from the sea, just like Abrams said.

Do I want a sequel? No, but I would like to see them release videos from other perspectives VIA INTERNET that maybe give some more information. I think that would be cool.

so you are telling me that this soda needs an ingredient off the ocean floor? wouldn't that make it incredibly expensive?

That's what they're telling us. I don't know how much it is.

I liked the movie, Hud was pretty funny "Did you know that Rob slept with Beth??" the monster was pretty wild and the filming wasnt too bad but yes did make me wanna puke at times. All in all i'd give it two thumbs up.

But yea, i think its an alien and not a sea creature. How could a wild animal have the intelligence to cut off a bridge that could be used for escaping a city, rip off JUST the head of the statue of liberty and pitch it and cause a power outage/knock over a oil tanker?

I saw some viral websites (slusho.com) but there was no obvious connection. Seems pointless viral marketing to me?

I missed the splash at Coney Island too...

Saw it last night. I liked it. Sat in the last row so I was fine with all the shaking. The monster was cool, those smaller ones reminded me of those brain bugs critters from half life. Id like to see squeal.

I thought this movie was great.

i can see why people wouldnt like it though...

1. they get sick easy (babies)
2. you dont get spoon fed the story, just like everything else in hollywood. dont get me wrong i enjoy a good movie, but its nice to have something different every once in a while
