Hey guys, i recently got a GPS unit for my celi and I've noticed that the speed the GPS says I'm traveling at does not match my speedometer readout. Basically, the speedometer is always overshooting my actual speed - for example, when the speedometer reads 80mph, the GPS says i'm traveling at 72mph, speedo: 70- GPS: 63, speedo 55 - GPS 50. It's not the GPS unit getting a bad reading - I did the same test in another car and it read the same as the other car's speedo. Weird thing is, it's not just off by some systematic amount - it's a ratio thing somewhere. Any ideas??

do you have aftermarket rims + tires?
they can throw your speedo out a few MPH.

Nope, i just have the stock 15's... It's just strange that the speedo would be off by THAT much. There has to be a fix for it somehow

It's also very hilly in and near college station - can GPS account for that? If you look at the numbers he's posting it would seem to make a certain amount of sense. He's going 80MPH but down hill and the GPS can only "see" him from a nearly vertical position so it "see's" 72MPH. Does that make sense to anyone else?
Just an idea.

Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.

It adjusts for that.
