i recently was tryna do my gauges and broke the pointer for the gas gauge and the little ACTUAL NEEDLE that is inside a lil motor which controls the fuel gauge. anways i couldnt fix it and now my gauge is broken but after about 300km = 190miles , the gas light comes on. so do the actual needle and whatver controls the gas light work together as in if one gets messed up so is the other or no. cuz it cant be possible im gettin half the fuel economy i shud be getting. my car is pretty stock, i checked gas tank and lines no leak anywhere..??? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

the guage jsut reads an electrical signal it doesnt actually control the fuel consumption im pretty sure off. ive never heard of an st loosing that much mileage, i would seriously suggest taking it to a shop to run an eng code check and see if any error codes come up. Also make sure they check the fuel system, fuel pump, fuel filter injectors etc

If you really want to check your gas mileage just fill up until the nozzle auto shuts off, take note of the station and pump you used, reset your trip odometer, and drive for a few days. Then fill up at the same pump until it auto shuts off and then divide the distance on your trip odo by the liters you pumped. You don't need a gas gauge to determine gas mileage.

i think an st holds more to 14.5 15 gallons.

my fuel light comes on a 1/4 tank left... and that gives me another 120 or so miles. never ran outta fuel.

i just note the trip milage when the light comes on, add 100, and get gas when it gets there

seems like something may be setting your gas light on sooner than it should be
