So i have finally decided that i will keep my 6gc and swap in a 3sgte and go that route as opposed to everything else i was talking about. Whew glas to have made up my mind, finally!!!
So i know a good toyota shop in Portland Oregon(where i live) and personally know the owners but am not sure they will do the swap. So this raises two questions... Does anybody know of anyone on the West Coast who can handle a 3sgte motor and tranny swap into a 94 GT coupe, and do it right?? Where should i order the Engine and parts from?? I have found a couple of websites on here and such that offer everything but i have very hesitant to drop 2 grand on the motor over the internet. So three more questions Is buying a motor and tranny and all that is needed for this swap, online the ONLY way to go? Should i have the toyota shop order it? will it be more if they order it? -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

Have you done any searching at all?
1. just getting the engine with ecu and harnesses wont cut it. You'll need the front clip, where you'll get everything you need for the swap to run properly. 2. You can keep your tranny since you have a GT. 3. Check out jarcoinc 4. save the money and do it yourself. Thats only way you'll learn. 5. SEARCH 6. SEARCH MORE... -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
94 Celica st black DD (bad weather beater)- totaled deer 95 Celica gt silver- chassis sold 88 Celica All-Trac (Burned to a crisp) 94 Celica gt white (sold) In need of a rust free chassis!!!! |

There is a group on ebay that is down here in socal (Palm Springs) that has a front clip for around $3k....i belive they go by AST1G or something like that. I got the front clip when I did mine and it was well worth it. Some of these companys now are offering whatever parts you want from the car with the clip.

Quick way to answer this question is imagine your car....you are standing next to the drivers side door/pillar....cut a straight line just behind the steering wheel, shifter, all the way to the other side. THere's your clip. You get the engine, ecu, wiring, fenders, hood, dash, etc.

Many engine sets are complete enough, Jarco has very few clips for sale.
In Oregon there are reputable shops around just ask around locally. If you decide to do it yourself there are plenty of people and info available here to help you out. Make a meet of it and I'm sure people from the NW would be willing to lend a helping hand. ![]() This post has been edited by 97lestyousay: Feb 10, 2008 - 11:14 PM -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

Like WTF!!! He didnt even understandwhat i was talking about!!!!! Thanks I recommend you spend more time doing research. Learn as much as you can and do the swap yourself. If you go to a shop, they are going to rape you on price, and hand you an unfinished car because they couldnt figure out what to do. Even if you do find someone to do a "good job", you are going to shoot yourself in the foot down the road, when something breaks and you have no idea how to diagnose or repair it. Do your own work. Learn about your car. Thats my advice to you or anyone else looking to own a swapped car. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

If you're willing to take it down to San Jose, CA, there is a good shop here for that sort of thing. It's called Aggressive Performance, and they specialize in MR2s and Celicas. He has done work on my MR2 Turbo and my Celica, and he's done plenty of engine swaps. 408-278-1837

If i have my new motor with all my work done to it already and it is redy to go in, how long would it take a shop to take out my old motor and put in my new one? Cause i dont know if we are talking like a few days or a few weeks... if everything it already to go... -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

If by ready, you mean the wiring harness is done, and you plan on using your gt tranny, I would guess that it would take 2 weeks, maybe three, depending on how busy the shop is that you use, and how much other customization is required (exhaust, intercooler, etc). I will say this: it kind of sucks to use a shop that isn't close to you, because you won't be able to go back there easily for small problems should they arise. Something to consider.

I know a guy you could call to see if he'd be willing to do the swap... he's out in Estacada though, so you'll have to be willing to travel a bit. He's done a bit of work for me on my 4Runner when I had it, he's an AWESOME guy and builds race cars, so he'll know what he's doing. He's the first person I'd go to if I were doing a swap and needed help or were paying someone to do it for me. PM me if you want his name and number.
Also, try RRevmotorsports, (503) 289-4020 (found on the web) too. There's one other place, I totally can't remember what it's called though. I don't even know if they do swaps, I know they do dyno tuning... if I think of it I'll edit this. -------------------- ![]() |
