Is it actually your brake light in the dash, you mean? This could be one of two things. Most likely, it's because you're low on brake fluid. Less likely, it could be a bad e-brake switch that's triggering the sensor to make the light come on. If it's coming on randomly, it's likely your fluid level.

i'd put my money on it being the brake fluid... and i bet its because your brake lines are expanding enough under the extra pressure caused by hard braking to bring the level down, maybe some SS brake lines would do you well

plus when you brake hard, the fluid sloshes around in the reservoir, so it will give you a low reading if your level is borderline, turning on the light.

yep, happened to me too. just top off the fluid and it'll take care of the light. what you should be more worried about is why your fluid got low. most likely the pads are getting pretty low.
