Short shifters are sweet but I just put on a razo shift knob the long thin one and the way it sits on the arm makes it feel like a shorter throw. I love it..

If you want a short throw weld any type of extension to the underside of the shifter. The longer the extension the shorter the throw. |

Def goes into gears faster and smoother. -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

I bought a 7gc short throw shifter and cut the bottom part off and welded it to the bottom of my 6gc shifter. Much better and accurate shifting experience. -------------------- 3sgteing.

Concerning the short shifters, has anyone ever tried one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-04-Toyot...sspagenameZWDVW I'm looking on Ebay, and all these 7th gen ones look the exact same. Will they work? And how well made are they? -Matt |

Heres what would probably do best. Cut a link out of the top portion and reweld a bit shorter. Cut the bottom and add a bit of length to it... should work yes?

So I could buy the shifter I linked to on Ebay and it would work just fine?
How do you take out the stock piece for that in the first place? -Matt |

^ yeah, that ebay ss will work just fine. as far as quality, its just a metal stick. not much can go wrong. best 40 bucks you can spend. there's a pdf file on how to install the twm ss. same exact instructions. someone should have it saved on their computer.

the short throw won't look all that much shorter because you have to put the assembly on risers so you don't hit on the bottom. it's designed shorten the throw, not necessarily the height of the shifter. if you want a short throw/short shift stick, get a cheap ebay one, cut a bit off the top portion then weld it back together. now you have a shorter throw (distance between gears when shifting) and the shift stick now looks shorter.
all i can say is i love mine and most people who have been in my car have made comments about it. best 30 bucks spent IMO. hey jaws, i used to have that same shift boot (except red) on my old 97 LE. i do miss that car sometimes.
