What if the G6 were just making its debut now, against today's crop of mostly ugly cars? Do you think it would be the hottest thing on the street?

versus whats on the road now-a-days we would have the lowest horsepower besides the echo's, wave's, hybrids...even the lowest model g5 has 140hp but styling wise i think we would reign supreme , alot of newer cars are nasty like the WHOLE dodge line up is gross IMO.

yeah, the lack of horsepower compared to other cars on the market today would make it a bust. For the features offered it would probably cost arround 15-20's brand new, and for 16-20 you can pick up that new little chevy car, with over 200 hp...
However, the beauty of it could def. not be toped We still own on who has the prettiest car -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! I dont think I could afford one brand new in 2008...in 1994 GT4`s were £36,000 ish....god knows what it would cost now brand new???? I`d probably have to buy a second hand Impreza (Yuck) or somother junk.

Well I probably wouldn't be able to afford one brand new I'd have like a cb7 accord or something...I'm sooo glad I decided against that and bought the celi. But yes, styling wise our cars DO look better than 99% of the new cars comming out, though they would need to be more powerfull to really compete.

Okay, I checked the horsepower ratings again for the domestic models in the brochure. I guess the U.S. models were 135 hp because of some quota about average corporate gas mileage, but in Japan they were 255, 180, or 140. That's net. I don't know if they rate horsepower differently in the U.S.
Price? Yeah. Mine was over $30,000 in 1995, but that was new and a domestic version of the convertible. Used it wouldn't be much today. I don't know what the price would be for a 2008 Celi if they existed. If it were being introduced just now, of course, the technology would be updated, and if the market demanded it, one would hope the horsepower would be competitive. In asking the question, I was thinking mainly about the styling, and I feel it has held up pretty well in that regard. I don't see many good-looking new cars these days. i think if the 6gc was just coming out for 2008 and it was styled the way it is now there would definatly been more HP and i also think the taillights and rear bumper are a lil outdated IMO and that would be something they would change

Well if ST202 came out with I-VVT-i (ACIS with VVT-i ) side skirts projector lights rear splitters front lip and more optional parts/extras (choice of FF or 4WD)
If the ST205 was VVt-i and turbo (like the newer supras did ) and if they worked on the cars computer more, but really I just wish there was more aftermarket/performance parts you could use. so yeah I would... as long as it doesn't cost heaps This post has been edited by Rusty: Mar 24, 2008 - 2:43 AM -------------------- |

the interior is way way to out of date to be a 2008 car.

I get more compliments on the interior than anything else by people who sit in my car. The only prettier interior I've ever seen [and I've seen a whoooooole lot] is the MKIV Supra which basically looks like a more expensive version of ours. meh - personaly aesthetics I suppose. I voted yes but was thinking only if the gave us the ST-205 this time with a few things updated. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. i think... if toyota offered the 1nzfe engine (echo i believe?) at 130hp or something as a base trim economy version, then offered the 2zz as a gt model with 190hp and then offered a 300 some v6 model as a gt-s
that way... highschool type kids could possibly afford a 15k base line cool looking car. college students could afford a bit peppier 25k one. and the enthusiasts could get the loaded one for like ~40k the biggest problem car makers seem to have when making the next big hit, is a good design at a good price. take the evo's - pretty expensive, and in the tuner world great performance, but... looking at the high end cars, its the bottom end. if toyota makes any kind of sports car, and another manufacturer makes one thats 5k less, with the same performance and same aggressiveness in looks, the toyota would never sell. the general designs are timeless in my mind. besides my paint being crappy most people think its like a new 09 model toyota. then i tell em nope, its an old car. -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

Wasn't the gt-4 only (the equivelent of) like $30-$35k? I mean I get you're concept, but NO ONE (at least not the mojority of people who could afford it) would want to pay $40 grand for a celica. -------------------- |

Looks wise, we'd be okay with the projectors to make it look more modern. Horsepower wise if it is still the ST and GT, 6gc's would be undesirable.

I think the front end would have to be redone a little, but that wouldn't mean getting rid of the twin headlights. Fundamentally, the 6GC is very similar to the latest Aston Martins, the Bentley Continental GT and the Hyundai Coupe.
