I'm considering buying a set of 16x7 rims that would come with 245/50/16 tires... These should fit on a Celica, right? (my car is lowered, in case that matters).

edit: my current tires are 205/50/15... I like the comfort, but not the handling.

what's the offset? (it should be stamped somewhere on the wheel, usually on the back of the spokes.) it's gonna be hard to fit them. you'd need an offset somewhere around a 25-35, probably about 30. Then, you're wheels are gonna stick outside your fender about 10-20mm so you'll need to roll the fenders. it also might be much easier to fit with a 245/35/18 tire.

The offset on the rims I was asking about is 38 if that matters.

i believe they should fit.

with my old wheels which i think are a 30-35 offset? maybe even 28 im not sure..

i mocked up a 235 35 18 tire and it fit very well, i was gonna get some 235 40 18's and rock them

245 40 18 will come close up front, but i wouldnt see any problems as long as you arent smashing bumps while turning

i have 185/70/14 the factory size tires.
on the side panel of the door it says cold tire invlation should be at 29 in front and 29 in the back, would 33 psi in the front and back do anything to the tires

look on the side of the tire for the max inflation pressure and don't go past that! if you notice the tire starts wear more on the middle than on the side, then it's got too much air. anf if it wears faster on both sides than the middle, it's under inflated. (if it wears on only one side, you need an alignment)

does anybody know if 225/50 16's will rub on a lowered car??? offset should be 35

225 isnt that for 7.5-8.5in. wide rims?????? why!?!?!?!?! i get awesome handling with my new 205/45/16 91V (i think) tires...........oh they're Toyo Proxies 4s

ya thats right... I have a 7.5 inch wheel thats goin on... I jus didnt know if n e body has tried that or knew if it would hit, cuz if I need 2 use a spacer it might look wierd

if you're gonna use a spacer read that "things to know about spacer thread" for your safety

they should fit. maybe some slight rubbing on the fender plastics but no big deal.


you can fit a 225 on a 7 inch wheel. just not any wider. I had a 6gc come into my work the other day with 225/50/15's on the stock GT wheels. that's the tire size I was gonna run so I could get better traction with my 5sfte before I got the 17's and did 225/45/17's on a 8 inch wheel.

225/40 18" although the rims are 8.5" so i could run a 245 or bigger, but this keeps the right rolling diameter.

To you guys with the 225/45/17, why do you like it as opposed to the 215/45/17?

I have the Scion TC wheels, and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money to get the 225's. What's the advantage of these as opposed to the 215's? I know the bigger tires will cost more, and I'm trying to save as much money as possible at this point.
