I search all over, but can't find any detail info on how to remove the power antenna and repacing it with an after market antenna. Can anyone send me a link where I can find that or if you can give the info here. Thanks

hmmm i tried to take off my friends pwr. ant. on his gen.5 but something was keeping it from coming off...........

Yeah I got that far too. My antenna was already broken when I got the car. It was broken as the very bottom. I was able to take it off, but when I went to feed the new after market antenna that I got from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...52BSI%26otn%3D4
The description made it seem easy to do (they say 5 min), but I can't seem to get it out. I emailed them and is waiting for an answer, but thought I check here to see if anyone have any detail info on how to remove the old antenna. Thanks

Mine was stuck halfway as there's an internal plastic piece that snapped.

If the electric aerial jams, it doesn't have to be replaced. If you're lucky you can fix it like this: Switch the radio on and leave it on. Undo the top nut holding the aerial to the wing. Pull the broken mast up and away from the aerial body. Fit a new mast, available from a Toyota dealer for around £20 by inserting the toothed nylon rack into the aerial body. Switch the radio off and the aerial should retract, refit top nut. If like me you are less lucky, the nylon flexible rack will have snapped off inside the body. Take the interior panel off inside the boot, and remove the aerial from inside, after pulling the old mast off as best you can. You will need to take the aerial apart and get the broken rack segment out before fitting the new mast. I have access to a 12V current limited power supply in my workshop which I used to drive the motor manually and test that I had it correctly reassembled before refitting to the car. If you don't have this, take it back to the boot of the car and test it there with the car's connector before fully refitting. This job took me about an hour and saved me having to buy a £200 replacement aerial, so was well worth the trouble.

I shaved mine and went with an indash. I just removed a couple bolts, and unhooked the plastic clip and pulled it out through the trunk. it's on a motor of coarse, but it wasn't that bad. took about 15 min. It's been about a year though, so i'll double check tmrw for ya

yea, i took mine out too. one day, it just decided to not go down. as impatient as i am, i went to autozone and bought a cheap after market stubby black antenna. took the interior out of the trunk, unplugged the wiring from the motor, unscrewed the motor, and yanked it through the inside of the trunk. it was my first time doing it, but it was easier than i thought.

Thanks for the info. I finally got a chance to tried it this weekend and there is a bolt that is holding the antenna on the inside of the trunk. I took the bolt off that slide the old antenna off and unplugged it and feed the new antenna through the hole and into the side of the trunk and plug it in and tighted the antenna and it was pretty easy. Thanks again guys.

One thing I miss about my Spyder was an aftermarket antenna I had. Nobody on SpyderChat could tell me where it was from or where to get one. I want one for my Celica:

^^ you can get that antenna at Fry's, or at least you used to be able to...

did u have to unplug the antenna from radio cable & Power Source?

^Proven antenna swap...Honda S2000 short rubber antenna. Cheap and easy.
