So i've had my 95 Celica ST for a while now. No engine mods, just wheels and tint. I'm nearing 110k with no big problems other then the car being too slow for my liking. So I set out to sell the car and find something else. Unfortunatly, nobody wants to buy a car with 110k miles, and those that did quickly turned around once they found out it wasn't automatic. Then on April 1st(good timing right?) someone hit my drivers side at a red light. The car isn't in bad shape still, just small dents and scratches on the door and fender. I'm in no rush to get this fixed, but I will be collecting the insurance money.

As mentioned above, the ST is just too damn slow for me, and i'd also like to AutoX with one of my buddies. Now that a few months have gone by of trying to sell my car and failing, i've come to love it again. I really don't want something else, I just want to be a bit quicker. Now, the point of this thread.

I want to swap, but I don't have much cash. What I do have, is insurance money, ~1k, plus my tax and government money coming. All said and done i'd have around 2 grand to spend on a swap. I know my options, but I don't know how much they all cost in comparison. Anybody care to help me out with $$ figures on getting parts? Myself and some friends would do the actual swap, so labor fees don't need to be included.

As for other info, i'd like to eventually go FI, and my power goal can comfortably fall anywhere between 160-200whp

I don't know how much it costs but a couple people have done the v6 solara swap and were happy with it and it shouldn't be too expensive being a US car.

4age silvertop. 160hp stock and the engines are like $800 with all accessories and harness AND ECU. All you need is a throttle cable from a paseo or tercel.

its "160" at the crank. whp is closer to 120 ish. and as for turboing your 7a, do a compression test first. if its good enough, then turbo it and replace all the little things as you do it.

Yeah, 20v silvertop only makes around 160hp at the crank. Besides, I would love to see someone with an st do an ae101 4agze swap. The power and torque is better then top end in most cases because the car is your d.d. car.

x2 on 4agze

almost direct bolt up on an st

under 3000 said and done for it all

~1200 for a good engine complete with everything you need
400 for the harness
then how ever much to replace all the little things

I'd love to 4agze swap if I can find one with everything I need for a good price. I've got a friend with a garage so the engine can sit on stands and get cleaned up. Maybe i'll send the harness to Tweak because i can see that being to hard to figure out between my friend and myself.

So i've decided to do a 4a swap since I got a raise and a higher position at work. So i'll be making a good bit of bonus money every month that will all be dumped into the swap.

What can I use from my car if im swapping in a 4a and what else would I need?
Can I swap in LSD later if I can't find an engine with it when the time comes?
$$$?

My vision for my car has changed drastically, but I like it biggrin.gif
