I have a 94 st, i want to swap in a 3sgte. i was going to just use a 5sfe trans but i was wondering if the 5sfe trans out of a camary or earlier model celicas would wok and if what the transmission code or name is.

Yes will work. S54 The early ones are S53.

so 5gen celica has s53 and 6gen has s54? is there any differences? which does the camary have? is the a difference between the 5sfe cluctch and the 3sgte clutch as far as splines and bolting it to the flywheel?

You can either mix and match clutch compnents, but do what I did and contact Doc Tweak and order a cutom clutch. It will run you around 400, but I'm sure it will be well worth it. I'm not quite sure about the 5sfe camry tranny, but I guess it depends on the year. I'll put it this way, if the 5 speed manual tranny that bolts onto any 5sfe motor, it will bolt right onto the 3s motor with a custom clutch or mix and matched components.
