Whenever I unplug this, my car does not start. The battery will come on, but not turn over. I guess it's some kind of security thing that was installed on my car. Does anyone else have it..? Or could someone tell me exactly what it is called?

Alright, I just called you and discussed with you the operation of the device. Seems as though the patent number listed is only in compliance to the patent for the LED light which is mounted on the topside of the "key fob". This unit is very simliar to the Revelco (sp) unit. As you already knew before you posted this thread, that it is an anti theft device that is spidered into your ecu harness not allowing the vehicle to start unless the "key fob" is inserted in the port. I will further diagnose this upon my next visit, however, there's not much else you need to know about it, but I guess I'll use it as an excuse to play around with your Celica.
Oh, and this is MaskedMan, but I thought I'd post under MarcoGTS for that more mysterious MaskedMan effect. This post has been edited by MarcoGTS: May 26, 2008 - 11:49 PM |

I acually know my way around these
Its not a OEM install, thats why no one else has it, but somebody had it installed to prevent theft of the vehicle prior to you... I build these for people who lose them and get stranded at shopping malls |

wat is the purpose of it?cant u just unplug it lol...not much of anti theft It makes it so that someone can't start the car. You unplug it when you leave the car, and plug it back in when you come back. It's just another step in the lock/unlock routine. It needs to be plugged in for the car to run. My friend with his Sentra didn't even know he had this until his car shut down on him while driving. After he towed it home we found it under his dash. It is a very effective anti-theft method. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Like having 2 keys. It's a 2 piece portable kill switch. I'm still a fan of the hidden toggle
But then again there are all these guys with push button relay starts. This one seems to take it to the next level though. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. could have been a non toyota option that can be installed at the dealer such as lojack. kinda a good idea but where does it plug in? right by the key or under the dash some where? from what you guys are saying it sounds easy to miss, I would not want to dig under the dash to plug that thing in every time I want to drive somewhere but for the security i guess I understand.

Generally under the dash and hidden, hence the LED light on the key.
