sorry I should have been more specific I believe that this is a JDM 7afe head.

I cant see you getting gains from this "butteryfly setup" on the intake pipe, there is just not enough resistance with a decent pipe and filter to worry about, also the stock 7a does not have a high enough redline to justify it either, but as far as real ITB setup its do-able and would give some gains but again for the amount of work does not seem worth it.
my opinion. on a side note (kinda related but not) I've see something like this for exhausts, setup a butterfly Y kinda think right after the manifold to 2 pipes 1 with stock cat, resinator and muffler and one thats straight pipe with hollowed out stock muffler, flip a swich and the stock exhaust closed as the straight pipe opens, gives you a emissions passing stock sounding car with a well hidden secrate. dont know how well it would work on a celica 7a or 5s but something else to think about. (I saw it on an episode of Trucks a while ago. This post has been edited by creis: May 29, 2008 - 3:10 PM -------------------- |

From where did that manifold come from?
on the intake manifold that I had posted pictures of I believe that the second set of runners are closed under engine vacuum and when there is no vacuum the second set of runners are allowed to fully open. so basically when you are at idle(engine vacuum) the second set is closed and as you press the throttle the the second sets opens as it gets closer to "0" vacuum(WOT) This is not quite open ONLY at wide open throttle but could possibly be ran to some sort of vacuum switch to control it. And also this is a 7AFE manifold and head incase someone did not know. -------------------- 2002 SC430 (WC) - 19" SSR Comp-H, Daizen swaybars, Sparco Demons, JDM Soarer conversion, carbon fiber spoiler, Injen intake, front strut bar, drilled/slotted Brembo rotors 1997 Celica ST (DD) - 17" ADR, ViS Zyclone CF hood, ViS CF hatch, K&N intake, Invader body kit |

It is for a 7AFE I believe it is a JDM 7AFE intake manifold and head, I don't remember exactly what kind of car it came off or if it was even a 6th gen celica, I have had it for a few years already and I can't remember anymore. only odd thing about this head is that it does not have the hole for the distributor, I have not done research on them in a while but I could not find a 7AFE with an oem distributor-less ignition system. I plan on probably losing the whole butterfly setup and just opening up and siamesing the intake and if I can, weld up and siamesing the intake as well so that way I can have more runner volume so that I can try and raise the rpm range up since the 7AFE's i smore torque oriented. -------------------- If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle.
