Hi!
I have power windows (as all of us?) and when i what the driverside down the window goes all the way down even if I don't hold the button. That is nice! But my problem/question is that i want the same function for the window going up and for the passager side aswell. Has anyone made this modification? Does anyone know how the window know when it's up so that the windowengine don't burn out? /Johan |

When the resistance increases the motor stops. As for auto-up I believe it might be simple as bridging a resistor, but it gotta be a specific value. A harder approach would be using a PCB with an IC (555), some resistors and a relay.
Did you know that if you take the driver switch out you can see there is a lilttle square thingy at the bottom of the swtich and if you cut that off you can pull the switch up a notch higher. I think the PCB is already printed for auto-up. We just need to find a way... -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

DEI the people that make Viper and Python to name a few, make a window module that works with or without an alarm. The DEI 530T will add auto up and down to both windows and it can be found for about $50. Had one in my last car, works great.

while you are at it, it will be cool to lower the windows with the remote control of the alarm!
i have seen it in few beemers... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL
If you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in 2grfe Swapped... Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here... but i agree, it would be cool... |

there are a few DEI modules to do this. I installed one on Hurley97's car so when she arms the alarm the windows go up, with her remote she can put them down, and she now has the "one touch" feature which is exacly what you're looking for. Just one push of the switch will put the windows up or down, it's neato.

hmm...ebay looks good for the DEI module but the shipping is as much as the module it self
I was thinking about hocking it up to my alarm first, will se about the DEI module. I have earlier thought about connecting a 20 seconds 12V pulse to the "window up" cable, anoyone know if this is a good idea? |

Im assuming you tap the motor's wires and have a switch that sends 12V for 20 seconds? What if you wanna cut the power coz something is poking out/in the window? Also if you accidentally hit the down button on the oem switch while the window is going up u gonna have a short, possibly a fire (the current is damn strong in those motors) My advice is NO. -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

Lubu: almost what i was planning, butconnecting it to the up button. but i still have the problem with hittong two button at the same time (so to speak), so i mightorder the DEI module, but just for fun...check out the PCB for that prepeard stuff...

I know u want to connect it to the up button, what im saying is that while ur sending 12V for 20 secs to the motor (going up) and if ur accidentally hit the down button on the oem switch then u'll send another current to the motor, only this time the current is in reverse(going down, remember the Voltage in cars is DC)and that can cause a fire or a fuse. -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

My 4Runner had this feature. Maybe search around on different Toyotas and see if you can "marry" the two?

Yeah i know the problem. As you say, i would probably burn someting after a while so its not an option unless i do some electric connections with smoe relays or something so it become safe. The the driverside buttons apart yesterday and there are no way to use it as it is, no place to put a PCB or something without taking someting out and i won't do that. But thanks for the idea anyway, just a little complicated My 4Runner had this feature. Maybe search around on different Toyotas and see if you can "marry" the two? alright, might search around for it but i probably end up with the DEI module since it sounds easy and less time consuming (spelling?) |

All you need is a nice current sensor to detect when you hit something hard, like the stops . I have been chewing on this for a while, and as an EE I was actually going to use a Micro. The real trick, and why don't see it widespread yet, is pinch control, which is the really dangerous part of auto up, but I have a few ideas on how to do that.....

I might have a few tricks to make it work...Ill look into it more when my swap is done. -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

Agreed, but how do you solve the Anti Pinch?

Agreed, but how do you solve the Anti Pinch? Good question I susposed you can use the Micro but too much work IMO. Im just gonna make sure my leg is not poking outside or anyone's head is poking in when the thing goes up. I did find this write-up on MR2OC, im not sure on how similar the two PCB boards are but it couldnt that much of a different. -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

Alright...great link. think i have to take my control dash thingi apart again! And i agree, I'm not worried about the Anti Pinch, but i do want to be able to roll down wile the window is going up I'll give you a hint, think IPOD I like your input...but what? i don't understand...ipod? |

So...I took my driver side window control apart and this is how it looks:
Notice the left side where the diod D1 is... I have tried the windows with the thing connected to the car as it is in the picture and nothing but normal is happening so I think i have to get the DEI module or do something special "outside the box" |
