I am just curious how many of you people are like me and doing the stupid thing....buying stuff for the car when it's not paid off yet. This is not smart to do...but it's more fun!! Tell me your thoughts. I think I am going to pay it off though...interest kills.

My interest rate is pretty low, I'm using the car to build credit. And I'm ready to do an engine swap...

Well, I paid mine off a few months ago. But before I did, I had a Greddy exhaust, Apexi RSM, went through 2 cd decks, put subs in the doors, got the Jspeed strut bar, and took it out to RallyCross events(which caused 2 motor mounts, and a set of bad Potenza RE910s).
If I was smart, I would have paid it off sooner and had the money to finish the car a bit more(you pay less interest when you pay it off early, unless there's an early payoff fee). But it's fun to mod anyways, just make sure that you're going to keep the car. |

Still paying for mine. 12 payments to go! Woohoo Only mods I did were minor, no swap or anything. Just the simple beginner stuff, etc. I can't wait till it's paid off. I can't wait to have that feeling of not having to pay a car note for the month! lol
Once that's over and done with it'll be time to splurge and treat myself to some goodies. hehe |

Similar, I am using the Celica I own, as holding to pay off the 300zx while modding it. I get way more horse power out it than the Celica, plus the credit thing for a big house later. |

I'm still paying off both of mine.. I've got a UK SR for daily use - minor mods being an induction kit and strutbrace. I do 30,000 miles a year in this one though..
So I bought an 1999 ST202 with 23,000 miles on it and have been slowly modding it.So far it's had the GT4 rear brace fitted, Topmix front and rear skirt extensions, Blitz Realize TT exhaus, dropped it 40mm and work has started on the ice - Sony WX4500X head unit is the first bit. The 17" alloys should be delivered next week. Oh and I still owe a tonne of cash on them both ! about £12k - costs me about $550 dollars a month in loan repayments. Was thinking about it. But my Interest rate is 3%... and I'll save a lot paying it off earlier rather than later.
Wish I could, but I'll have more money to mod it later if it's paid off early. Right now I'm a full year ahead of schedule. Like others, I got the loan to establish credit. As soon as it's paid off it's going in my parents name for insurance. Come to think of it, I could have gone another route to establish credit and save a lot of $... but hind-sight is always 20/20 right? |

3% is not alot... thats $3 for every 100, and $30 for every thousand. That means for a 10k loan its only like $300... grant it with anual interest that outs it at like $1000 for a 5 year loan, which is not many mods at all.

I didn't buy mine new...bought it used from a dealer and I got like a grand left to pay on it...I have no interest rate because my parents paid for it with a check out of their home improvement loan...lol...so I just pay the differenc ein how much their monthly bill went up on that and it has no interest rate for 5 years or soemthing.
