Well, you can swap the 3sgte alot easier than if you had an ST. However its a 2.0L turbo and it wont give you better gas mileage. In fact it will be significantly worse. But with proper tuning you can easily have 300whp.

You've got to do some research my friend. You already want to order one, yet you probbaly don't know much about the 3sgte. Its good you have a GT because the 3s will be a direct swap. The problem is, you will have a motor that will be making over 50% more power than your factory motor. Will gas mileage be better? No. If gas mileage is your concern don't do the swap. If all you want is power go for it. But do some research before you splurge all this money and regret it at the end.

I think lagos reported around 19 mpg before. But after some mods he is getting 23 IIRC.

Since you have a GT you won't really need to upgrade your mounts. You should just purchase some kirkasaurous motor mount inserts. They are polyurethane inserts. Works pretty well for me. Since its a project car, I say its the best thing you can do to a Celica. I am in the process of a 3s swap myself and I am just waiting on my wiring harness.

But with proper tuning you can easily have 300whp. like terqui stated , a 3sgte is a easier swap into a gt than an st.... your gt's tranny allreaddy bolts right up, motor mounts are there too.... st u need to do alot more wqork, so ur set on that part, id suggest reading this thread to get more information..... http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28825 compared to alot of the 3s swaps done in this forum, if your looking to just get a lil more ponys and keep gas milage, ur 3s would be alot easier, as most are for performance... if not looking to go as powerful as a 3s than a 4a would work, just a slightly harder swap... if your having someone else do it, a 4agze would be great! It's cheaper and better to make your own kit using toyota parts. Thats where the 5SFTE post comes in.
The Burien kit is CRAP, plus doesn't have everything you need. Compared to years ago the 5SFE motor has come a long ways. Look up Pressure2's post the 5SFTE King. |
