ahh the 503E Toyotas 4banger that produced 1200hp for qualifying. Ive seen the whole engine swapped in the MKII MR2 somewhere in the internet..

anyone know where one could actually get one of these? been serching everywhere,. i see people saying theyre uber expensive, but noone knows where to get one! good god, are they really that rare... i mean pro race companies only use a motor for 2 ta 3 races and they have several of them built... did they all just dissappear?

I even tried talkin to the dealership, no luck... they say its a rare find and when they trash the engines tehy give em to a lower company that pays alot for em then rebuilds em or the team has the engine destroyed.... i dont understand why theys destroy a great engine tho.....
but if the 503e was in an american car a while back, what car was it in? anyone know? it was based of 2 engines... was it kind of like an 5sgte or was it a complete new engine based off of the 2 it was based off of? This post has been edited by monkey: Jun 13, 2008 - 1:03 PM |

If memory serves me correctly the 503 block was never in a production car - it was a race only application block "claiming" to be based off of the 3sgte, though there was nothing/very minimal that was interchangeable betwen the blocks. Even if you were able to locate one - where would you get the parts for it?

this ultimately sucks! parts can be made at machine shops and specially ordered... if i was to build a 503, i would have all the parts, everything that has to do with the engine, computer scaled so i had the dimentions and everything for them.... afterall if i was building a 503 i would race it professionally on a track..
and secrets are right! i hate that stuff! thats like someone knowing the end to our gas problem but shooting themself in the head so noone else can know... ehh looks like this thread is going nowhere and quick.... mods if you feel like it you can close it.... and if any mods remember this being discussed in the past and know anything about it, please pm me as i really want some info on this!
