hey guys,
as i have been lazy as hell, hence my lack of posts.... but i put some time aside for the celica sick and tired of your jdm's...................... not getting the most out of your tail lights.... i was so i decided to do some wiring this is what Jdm look like when you parker/ headlights are on - without braking. if you have Jdm taillights you will know they there are four (4) compratments. left to right 1) indicator 2) tail light/ brake light 3) rear fog light 4) reverse light so i wired up the addition positive (Green and white)from the brake light and brigded it to the rearfog light Positive (black and red). here you can see the wires i stripped. then duck tape and reinstall the lights.... so normal lights without braking.. left side with two compartments and rightside is original both with the brakes pressed. looks really good pics are from my phone so not the best. night pics. no braking braking enjoy. |

With my parker lights on both lights are on, when I brake they just get brighter. Howcome yours only has 1 lighting up?

yea... it seems OZ guys has on OZ models european wiring harness. That means harness with rear fog light instead of second parker-light/brake-light.

trd proven... if you're using a USDM taillight harness that would explain why both yours light up... Actually no - I used the harness that came with the JDM tails. 7443 bulbs are JDM which I have. USDM ones are 1157 which are on my USDM ones. So I do have the JDM ones because they came connected harness to tails. USDM bulbs are twist on. Mine are slide ins which are JDM. Most of the ones Ive seen here have both lights turn on on park. Plus they look awkward with one light on on park because its a small light lighting up on the center of the tail. well it seems malpaso threw some light on it... the jdm and usdm harnesses have two parking lights while some euro versions have a rear fog instead of two... i didn't say you didn't use JDM

this is what Jdm look like when you parker/ headlights are on - without braking. I think not, baby puppy. My car, made and sold in Japan and such, can't get more JDM than that... : So european celicas have 'JDM' lights but different wiring? That's rather random :S This post has been edited by MercuryFree: Jun 16, 2008 - 8:22 AM -------------------- |

So european celicas have 'JDM' lights but different wiring? That's rather random :S I would say something like this: there are two different tail lights around the world... no... sorry... to be accurate there are actualy three of them for hatchbacks. But two with obviously different design . Let's name them JDM, Euro and US. JDM: those in JACSSX pictures (sure thing ) Euro: that "other" design of tails US: US ones looks almost the same as Euro tails but they have working that "corner" part of amber turn signal as well. I hope you know what I mean... I have picture only of that Euro one where is plug for 5th bulb sealed: so we have 3 different tail lights... we also have 3 different wiring harnesses. JDM, Euro, US. For description how they are wired let's use rear right one. JDM: reversing light - brake/parker - brake/parker - turn signal Euro: rear foglight - reversing light - brake/parker - turn signal US: brake/parker - reversing light - brake/parker - turn signal - side lamp (or something) now... JDM wiring is usualy used from stock with JDM lights, Euro with Euro and US with US... and as I understand they are using Euro wiring harness but that rear foglight is not in use on OZ models . That's why only one brake/parker light is on and nothing else. btw.: my ones looked the same about a year ago because I had Euro everithing and didn't know how to use Euro wires and JDM light. See my old "issues" lol: I was so confused because just for your info this is how Euro light and harness works... Now after years of playing with my car I have custom harness (JDM/Euro harness mix) and JDM lights so I have everything working (2x brake light and foglight as well) . Hope that helped! Wow that's crazy malpaso, Very interesting read I never knew what people meant by rear fog lights until now, Yeah mine is the same as MercuryFree (Can't get any more JDM than a Japanese Import) so basically I'd have what you have if I wired an extra switch to independently turn on the inner brake lights?
What is the 5th bulb for? Is it part of the turn signal or is it a driving light? I'd like to see what that part looks like when lit up. -------------------- Mike W

Im totally confused and i am going to take a look when i leave work to see what happens on mine lol Since you are from UK and you have JDM import of one of first models: a) you have JDM harness so it will look like at US models but more probably... b) someone after import modified/changed that JDM harness and now they looks like my old (stock) Euro light and harness -------------------- No more replicas...
