Soooo... there was a bit of a delay since I threw away the cam caps that went with my spare head so it was garbage. I went to the junkyard down the road from work on my lunch break and pulled the head off a 94 ST with 184k miles, that was Weds and Thurs someone brought it up to the machine shop for me. I got it back today, I paid $205 cash. I want to try and port it out a little before re-installation. Then I just need to find a good time to get it done so I can break it in for about a month before we can start the turbo install.
My oil pressure gauge crapped out on me, possibly a bad sender. I bought new ones, AutoMeter Sport Comp II's. I wanted a boost gauge with a lower max psi anyway. They should also match the stock gauges a little better and light up more reliably too. This post has been edited by hurley97: May 21, 2008 - 9:58 PM -------------------- |

I just realized I don't think I posted these pics yet. Manny coated my manifold and exhaust housing a few weeks ago.
coated with Techline Black Satin Ceramic Coating. Bought from Caswell. The 4oz can was more than enough to do both of my pieces and a 3S heatshield for Manny's car. these are some of the pics Manny PM'd me right after they were done. I reinstalled the exhaust housing afterwards, I don't really have pictures of that right now. QUOTE -------------------- |

the new machined cylinder head is installed. I've put about 150 miles on it since yesterday afternoon and I will be taking it to Jersey/New York and back on Fri. So far it feels really good, nice and smooth, also feels like it picks up a little better at the top end. No coolant/rushing water noises yet, we'll see what happens.
I want to put at least 1000-1500 miles on it before the turbo install. Right now (assuming everything goes well until then) it's set for mid to late July, probably sometime soon after the DWG meet. This post has been edited by hurley97: Jun 2, 2008 - 6:38 PM -------------------- |

Hey Hurley - I too am looking for EGT and oil pressure that match stock in 52mm/2" [which is weird cause they are not exact matches - must be why some gauges seem hard to install in my gauge pod]. My only other requirement is that they either light red or have a 194 bulb so I can use Culp's bulbs I bought from him - do these fit that description? Thanks in advance. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. No. I actually thought they had the LED socket in back so I could put green ones in to match my gauge cluster lighting but when I got them they did not. They have internal LEDs that cannot be changed and they back light white... so I actually just ended up just changing my gauge cluster to white LEDs to match -------------------- |

Thanks again - so you can understand why these are not for me. I too prefer a nice uniform one color throughout.

I'm seriously thinking about buying an eManage Ultimate but I need more opinions...
I need pros and cons. Is it really necessary with my kind of low boost application? Is the gain worth the money? Am I really going to need the other features? -------------------- |

But if I tear it to pieces I'll just buy another one. I'm seriously thinking about buying an eManage Ultimate but I need more opinions... I need pros and cons. I know I'm going to start out with the just the fuel map, then start wanting to figure out how to control other aspects. Problem right now is trying to get my laptop to communicate with Manny's eManage. If I can't get it to work then I can't buy it. I think it's a compatibility issue with Vista and/or a driver problem. I need someone who's good with computers to come help... any takers? This post has been edited by hurley97: Jun 25, 2008 - 8:36 PM -------------------- |

so after Manny's suggestion of oversized valves I postponed my original plan to find out more before making a decision. I've been e-mailing Shaun from MCS Motorsports about my options in rebuilding the head with them. Local Shop Stock Rebuild - $450 no shipping necessary includes inspection, cleaning, stock valve job, valve seals MCS Stock Rebuild - $650 + shipping includes inspection, cleaning, stock valve job MCS Stage I Port - $750 including return shipping includes stock rebuild items plus minor porting MCS Stage II Port - $950 including return shipping includes stock rebuild items plus a little more porting MCS Stage III Port and Polish - $1750 including shipping includes stock rebuild plus stage III port and polish, custom Ferrea 1mm oversized competition plus valves MCS Stage III 7AFE Head - $2680 including shipping includes MCS Stage III Port & Polish - Street, Ferrea 1mm OS Comp. Plus valves (custom MCS specs), Web Custom Grind Cams (custom specs), HKS valvesprings, Stock OEM retainers, keepers, and valve seals. I'm still tempted to just go with the local shop due to price but I do like the fact that even with the stock rebuild MCS will be more performance oriented... but is it worth the extra $200? would the minor porting be worth the extra $400? this is my dilemma... god 4 those prices just drop in a 3s... -------------------- BANNED. for life, you moron.

My view on emanage and all other piggy backs and stand alones changed since I made a friend who is running his turbo miata with Megasquirt.
For 300 bucks, you get an ecu that you can start out using as just a basic piggy back to control fuel, or go all out, upgrade to coil packs and have megasquirt run as a full stand alone. Its very easy to use, and requires the same install skills as emanage. Look into it. Its a project that I plan to do in the future. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

You're right. Heck, MS has blown in popularity in the island, as we now have dealers specialized in their install and tuning. There are Evos and STis running them with great results. If I didn't have my eManage, I would've gone that route, but the eManage is working great for my plow power goals.

OK---This is my final parts list---I have everything I can think of that I will need. If I need anything else I will find out during the install. If anyone notices anything you think I'm missing please let me know now.
I am not getting the e-manage now since I still can't get it to work with my computer. I am going to try running it with the SAFC Neo and see how it goes. Meanwhile I am looking into the Megasquirt. I think I already have the software, it came with my wideband in LogWorks II under an 'Extra Devices' folder, I can't open it without connecting to something though so I'm not entirely sure. -------------------- |

I've spent over twice that amount of money buying things over and over again, or redoing things. This is expensive, LOL. I just don't think of it anymore.
