Borla is the way to go! Just did my exhaust, cut out the cat tho, so its a 2.5in from the flex pipe back with a borla XR-1 muffler, if it ever stops raining here I'll get a sound clip up and hopefully a Vid. Sounds like you have some great plans for your car!

Thanks, I have some friends who love borla, and compared to some others, it just sounds deeper. However, I'm actually trying to find an exhaust that will not only give me more performance, but also be silent. My last car (the 4runner) I had an exhaust on, and while it was nice and louder, it just became obtrusive after a while (harder to hear the music in the car, could not drive fast at night without pissing off neighbors, etc.) If I could find something that will give me better flow, but also quiet it down to a prius (my most despised car) I'd be happy. More work being done to the bike. Finally got it jetted to match the pipe. Now I have to tune the carbs (which means taking off all 4 banks, setting the idle adjust screw, putting them back on, testing and repeat. extremely time intensive). Looks like Betsy won't be getting more then a wash and a wax for a little while. -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Don't hold back for anything or anyone.

Yes borla is loud, I suppose you could throw a silencer on or a glass pack? It may help quiet it some? I may end up getting a glass pack on mine eventually cuz I imagine that it'll get old but for now I like!

Sounds like you have a good plan for going about mods. I'm kinda in the same boat as you in regards to the bike and the car. I have an R1 though. Besides the power commander it really doesn't need much else. It makes 178 horsepower right out of the box so I'm not going to mess with it. That leaves my folding money for the car.
I got my tC rims off craigs list for less than I could put new tires on my old rims. Your tastes may vary though. If you have the premium 8 speaker stereo you're going to have all sorts of fun taking all that out and hooking up a decent system. It's not difficult but when I did mine I had both seats and the center console out. I decided to work on the interior stuff first. It's less expensive and most of it's small stuff that I can do in an afternoon. Besides the rims I haven't done anything to the outside. |

Welcome,
The best advice I can give you is to take a few days and scour this site. You will find good ideas in the forums. Also check out the parts list, how-to's, and tech articles sections. Then, when you are done with that, check out celicatech.com, toyotacelicaonline.com, yotarepair.com/celica.html, and just do a search using your preferred search engine. That will give you plenty of ideas to digest. Best of all, take your time and do what you like...not what's popular now (ie; JDM this or that, etc.). In the end, you'll be happier with the car. I've only had mine for about a month and have been steadily plugging away. It takes time and can be frustrating trying to find some of the items you would like for a reasonable price, if at all. Good luck and happy hunting. Tim |

Welcome!
The best advice I can give you is to forget you even found your cup holders. They're useless unless you're mixing something (they'd work for that) Seriously, though, this site is awesome. You will learn TONS about our Celicas. -------------------- My new, blue spark plug wires gave my Celica, roughly, 250 more horsepower..

Thank you very much for the enthusiastic welcomes,
As far as the exhaust, I'm not really sure what I'd do with it. I know my friend has a top o' the line magnaflow on his civic that comes with a resonator. Theoretically, the same system (or one similiar) with a different resonator could produce a different pitch/control the volume of the exhaust. If that's the case, then I'd just have to find the right resonator for my set up, and I'd be set. However, in more practical terms, I'll probably get new headers and a hi-flow cat before any exhaust work. It'll let the engine breathe a ton better, but also keep it somewhat quiet. Naturally, I'll update you all with any progress I make. R1's are sick, I almost bought an 00 R1 rather then my gsxr. You can't mess with a guy who can pull a 0-60 at 2.9 seconds... stock. Enjoy one hell of a machine, and seriously, thank the bike gods that you own an injected bike :-P. My original post does sound like I'm going for what's popular. In retrospect, I should have worded it differently. What I really meant to ask is, what's the best bang for the buck, and what third party companies to steer clear from. As with just about anything, there are a ton of companies that will make add-on parts, but some are of higher quality then others. I just don't want to get shafted with something that looks good, but is a complete, utter pain. As far as rims, I'll probably invest into either some 7th gen's or TC's. Just as you said, they are cheap to get, keep the same toyota styling, and are easy to come by. -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Don't hold back for anything or anyone.
