Is this an actual e153 lsd tranny? They say its off of a st202 3sge. A 94 so an ss-II, but I thought they didn't come lsd. I need a new tranny anyway and plus I get free axles. Would this pop right in or do I have to do the inner and outer combos? To be honest it looks like my s54 tranny, but who knows. I say its worth it to buy this bad boy and pay shipping then get a used s54 tranny with no lsd. Let me know what you guys think.

I owned a '95 SS-I 3S-FE (non-lsd), gearbox code is S54 -04A, my current car '96 SS-III (with lsd, superstrut, 2pot) gearbox code is S54 -06D

I found this information, I'll link to it for reference: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...mp;#entry187901

(edited for clarity)

QUOTE
If it's an N/A FWD A-series engine, it will have a C-series gearbox <------- AT200 ST
If it's a forced induction FWD A-series engine, it'll have an E-series gearbox
If it's a RWD A-series engine, it'll have a T-series gearbox
If it's an N/A S-series engine, it'll have an S-series gearbox <------ ST202,204 SS1,2,3,GT
If it's a RWD S-series engine, it'll have a J-series gearbox
If it's a forced induction S-series engine, it'll have an E-series gearbox <------- ST205 GT-Four
If it's a T-series engine, it'll have a T-series gearbox
If it's an R-series engine, it'll have a W-series gearbox (or P51, if it's an 18RG)
If it's an N/A M-series engine, it'll have a W-series gearbox
If it's a forced induction M-series engine, it'll probably have an R-series gearbox
If it's a JZ engine, it'll have a R-series or V-series gearbox

Hope this helps

I've seen that before.
It's very different than a s54, I was thinking it's an e56 or an e153. The e56 IIRC came on st202s (ss-ii and ss-iii) and are stronger than the s54 and some have lsd. The more I look at it it does look like an e153 but it's hard to tell because it's upside down.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. But it is off of an SS-II. If delusionz is correct this will fit with my current axles. And won't have to get a 3s clutch disc. To be honest this is the best bang for the buck, if someone is looking into an lsd set-up. Only time will tell. I have to rip into my tranny tomorrow to see whats going on with it.

The question is, will I need to use the inner axles? Or can I just get away with just using the axles supplied?

Okay get this. So I bought this transmission out of desperation. We questioned if it was an E153 tranny. Someone posted that the 3sge came with lsd but it was a rare E56 tranny. I'm stumped right now. I got the axles with the tranny and guess what? The inners fit inside the tranny of course and the outers fit the rotors of my celica perfectly. The length, Perfect fitment.

I'm just stumped because a buddy of mine told me it was a converted e153 mr2 tranny. Looking at the axles it doesn't look anything like hybrid axles. So any way, the Transmission won't fit, because the shaft is the size of an E153 tranny. I have a 3sgte clutch disc alignment tool and a 5s clutch disc alignment tool and obviously the 3s one is the size of the shaft from this tranny. So here's my question, What transmission is this? IS this the item as described? Is it truly a LSD tranny? I know I will need a 3s clutch disc for this to work, but is this a LSD TRANNY????? I'm some what pissed, but excited. Let me know.

it does have lsd. those trannys are rare and they came off of the st202 chassis so thats why they fit so well. its not a e153. i think it is a e56. check inside the tranny where the axels go. look straight through it and if theres a bar going straight across it has lsd. if you look straight through and see nothing then its non lsd. make sure you have both axles out while doing this of corse.

then how come it won't fit into the clutch set-up I had when I was running with the s54 tranny? IIRC the s54 tranny has a bar going through the tranny too.

How do I find out what tranny I have? I believe it's the standard ST202 tranny that came in the Camry as well. 5 speed, btw.

I bought Just the disc. Well, I have a 2nd gen swap and I used my s54 tranny prior to this. Isn't the competition clutch kit sold by Doc a combo made for this kind of swap? I mean 3s pressure plate and 5s disc with 3s flywheel? I assumed this and just bought the disc.
