The intake on my 97 GT cracked and split in the middle

I bought a new intake but it was missing the nipple that sits in the middle of the intake tubing. I dremeled a hole slightly smaller than the tube that goes into that nipple so that it would sit in there snugly. I was just wondering if any of the engine gurus can foresee a problem with this.

Also, I have no idea what that tube is for, can anyone enlighten me?

that will be fine unless there is air coming out of it, even then It shouldn't cause too much problems just not the best.

Use something to seal it also... IDK, silicone or something. Just to make sure you don't have a vacum leak. Let me guess... You bought this intake on Ebay? Next time check out your parts before you buy them! Anyway it shouldn't cause to much trouble. maybe a little loss of low end torque if it is leaking air... But then again maybe no change whatsoever.

looks like you bought a 94-95 intake hose off a GT instead of a 96-99 one like you should have.
you don't have to worry about vacuum leak because it's on the high pressure side of the throttle.
you should seal it temporarily and to look for a 96-99 intake hose and be done with it.
