If someone already brought this up, then please forgive me.

Although I have been just curious and decided to do a search through a few of the How To's and such, only to discover a lot of the photos that were posted through a hosting image site have been deleted or expired. Was wondering if there is a way to prevent this in the future, and (heck even I would do it if you let me know when) whenever someone posts photos, to make a copy and have it on an account through an image hosting site or a database where they will not be deleted, so that new members can get the same advantage as the more later members all the same.

I am not sure if this is making sense, but it is helpful (even though the information is posted) to have photos. Also, such things like removing the amber part of the JDM tails and possibly other "how to's" are missing the links. I was just curious and clicked on the removing of the amber piece, only to find it was a dead link.

Just thought I would bring this to your attention mods, and if you guys don't want to bother, provide me with a way to make this happen and I will do it for everyone. It makes no difference to me, so long as we can make it happen.

Thanks

You did? Is it a sticky? Because when I went to exterior>How To Remove The Amber part, the link was dead for a .uk site

Still no mods have any say or suggestions on this?

Dude I'd LOVE to see someone try to write a how-to on how to rebuild your engine. That would be hilarious! And LONG.

When I FINALLY finish my manual-to-power window conversion (i.e. figure out my wiring issues) I will definitely post a how-to for it. If anything it'll be a good resource for people trying to replace or repair elements of their existing window and lock setup!

I think that's pretty much what this is: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=51960&hl=
I'll be rebuilding a 5S soon so I'll probably put up something on that too.

SWEET!

I would consider yours the closest to a how-to thread there is on this, but it's more of a progress and "what I did" thread than an instructional "do it yourself" thread. Although I have to say it's got EXCELLENT information, and I've thoroughly enjoyed following it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it. I just think a "how to rebuild an engine" do-it-yourself thread is impractical. Elements of the engine? Sure. But the entire engine? I don't know about that. But I'm certainly open to being disproved. biggrin.gif

There are a lot of how-to's in the forums, nobody has put them in the actual how-to section in a long time.

Also, I tried to submit a correction to the auto-to-manual how-to a while ago (when the edit feature first came around it deleted the comments, I had put my correction in a comment) and the change was never made.

Well it seems the MODS need to get cracking. I haven't been on lately because I seen some crap where the mods were getting on people's asses for small things like "Post Whoring" and crap like that. When obviously this topic brings up a good point (I feel) that focus needs to go to more important things like replenishing the photos in the HOW To's. Why don't we have a photo upload data base for the important things or maybe a photobucket account as a backup for all of our photos for the HOW To'S?

Some serious work needs to be done. Give me the authority and I will do it, otherwise, GET I DONE!! No doubt about it, it is needing to be done one way or another, so don't get mad at me for sounding demanding. Like I said, I will do it if no one else is. For the good of the community.

i can't speak for everyone, but i know a lot of us are just looking for the stickies to get updated. we don't expect the mods or the creators of the stickies to go thru and find how-to's, but when one gets submitted, it would be appreciated if it was updated onto the sticky, like the "removing the orange bit" link that is dead, and i sent an update for.

Ok Ok, sorry. I didn't think what I said through prior to writing it. Sorry. I Dunno. I guess I will take it up myself and do all this then. Like keep records and photos so if they disappear I can restore them.

Maybe instead of getting pissy up in here, someone should make a purposal

Talk to Christian (ie PM) and see if he can enable an attachment feature. (Many forums have this) But limit the attachment feature to creation of how to articles (don't know if this limitation is possible) This way the images for the HOW-TO are stored/hosted on the 6gc.net server and not an independent provider.

i HAVE asked chris MANY times to add this feature to the site.
and offered ideas on how to offset the cost of doing so.
sorry, guys, but i cant sit here, and go thru every how to and sticky and fix everything myself. i just do not have the time. when i get PMs about sticking things ect, i try my best to get on things and update or add as best i can.
other than that, i just dont have the time.
its up to ALL of you to do your part, weather by PMing myself or one of the other mods when you see somthing not working or a dead link or whatever, (now that we actually have other active mods) and creating new stuff for us to add.

put all the "build" threads in one place. i think they sink to the bottom to quick. so much good info in them. stefs rebuild, manny's 5sfte, defgeph swap, ect ect ect.

OG 6gc ftw.
