Depends on the engine however since you're a GT I would aim for something that will hook up to an S engine. So 4G 5G and 6G celis all had S engines. You can also use the transmission from the Camry (5SFE - same engine as yours) and the MR2 (5SFE - 3SGTE) I don't think you can use the transmission from the 2ZZ-GE (7 gen GT)
Hahaha that answer seemed way too simple but I don't know any of the transmission available to you, name wise at least. -------------------- (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny. Copy and paste bunny into your (")_(") signature to help him gain world domination. |

Are you in need of a transmission because your current tranny is busted or are you swaping the motor? You cannot use either c56 nor the c60 from the 7th gen celica's. You can use the s53 tranny from the 5th gen gt/gt-s, but they have weak synchros. You might as well source out a s54 tranny if you are on a budget. But if you want a heavy duty tranny get an e153 tranny from a v6 solara or convert an mrt2 turbo e153 to fwd or convert an alltrac e153 awd to fwd. But if you opt to go with the e153 you will need the 3s flywheel, 3s clutch disc and pressure plate. You will also need mr2 inner axles and alltrac outers. Good luck.

No my tranny isnt bad its just.... auto but i wanna do the swap i know what i need, i was just milling the junkyards yesterday saw a 5gc with a manual tranny and i wondered if it could be used for the swap. Now i know tho that its not a good choice, thanks to you so ill try to look into a solara tranny i was just wondering the options. I was gonna do a 5sfte or a v6 swap but most likely the first one due to emissions.

I was gonna do a 5sfte or a v6 swap but most likely the first one due to emissions. a v6 would pass emissions easier than a 5sfte. The only benefit is you can remove all the aftermarket stuff when you go to smog it. in either case though, I'd recommend the e-153. when I had the 5sfte, I would have LOVED to have had a e-153. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

Is the Solara the only one that has the e-153? I was thinking about swapping my auto to a stick too. I have the 7afe but wasn't sure what trannys I could use either.
