hey guys, just like the topic says, I need to replace my front right caliper on my '94 ST, and i found a really good price for a front right caliper off a '97 GT. Just wondering if it will fit my ST. Thanks in advance.

Correction... it WILL fit, but the GT calipers are different (larger). You'll need to do both sides, get (94-99) GT rotors and brake pads.

If he is going to replace just the caliper then the answer is still nope. The GT caliper will not fit on the ST torque plate. You will also need the GT torque plate, along with the GT pads, rotors. So to recap, just the caliper, no. GT caliper, GT torque plate, GT pads/rotor, yes. -------------------- |

So to recap, just the caliper, no. GT caliper, GT torque plate, GT pads/rotor, yes. I'm confused batman. Torque plate is a pretty generic term which can mean any piece of metal that covers something and is sandwiched between two other things. I figure when you say torque plate, you mean it as the backing plate between the spindle and axle. If i'm incorrect... well... oops. Anyway, it'll still work just fine. The ST does have smaller backing plates, but that doesn't mean you can't bend them back a bit to clear the rotors. The GT rotors aren't sooo big that they extend past the plates... The calipers are bolt-ons on the spindle, which is the same between the GT and ST. I am kinda running GT calipers myself (basically calipers/rotors/pads) and they were bolt-ons... so I think you may be misunderstanding a bit. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... no prob, it's also called the caliper bracket, it's actual name is a "torque plate". I know the backing plates are a bit diff but they don't matter.
they're both painted red in this pic, it's what the pads clip into. If someone was to just change the caplier, it's a no go, you need GT bracket for GT caliper, the ST one no fit. You dig what I'm sayin now ? -------------------- |

I see what you're talking about now. That said, it all depends on what you or I mean by "caliper". When I say caliper, I refer to the entire sliding assembly bracket and all. It never made much sense to me why people would refer to calipers as just the piston assembly and NOT the bracket too. A caliper is not a caliper without the bracket (sliding calipers anyway).
That said, to answer the original question... a GT Caliper without the bracket... NO. A GT caliper with the bracket... YES. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
